Athena awoke to the smell of waffles and a cold pillow next to her. After momentary confusion, she heard quiet laughter erupt from the kitchen, and she couldn't fight the smile spreading across her face even if she wanted to. After donning her robe, she announced her presence as she walked into the kitchen. "Well, good morning! I'd know those laughs anywhere." May's smile only widened as she looked at her mom. "We didn't mean to wake you," she said as she made her way into Athena's open and waiting arms. "I told you she would still know you were here." Athena felt her heart swell as she looked over May's head to her husband, still sitting at the table. Bobby was smiling at the scene in front of him, placing a plate piled high with fresh, golden waffles next to the array of toppings on the table. "Is Harry still sleeping?" Athena inquired, releasing May and following her over to the table. "He's out grabbing some of that cheap whipped cream he likes from the store," May rolled her eyes. "Bobby made us all this but somehow he still needs that stuff on his waffles." Athena shook her head fondly, her hand laced in her husband's. "Well, let's grab as many as we can before he comes back and takes them all," she said conspiratorially as moved her free hand to load her plate with breakfast food. Athena felt movement and lips press to her skin. She paused, taking an opportunity to place both hands on Bobby's cheeks and pull him in for a sweet kiss, knowing this morning would be etched into a safe place in her heart forever.
