Asclepius wasn’t a normal doctor. Kanade already knew this. This wasn’t a bad thing though. In fact, she felt really comfortable with ringing on his door casually like this. Something she usually never did with any doctor she visited before.
It’s been a week since the last time she was here. She would never forget what he did for her. It was true, that the scale he gave her, most likely wouldn’t work in her world. Even if she was able to return home, there probably was no way she could call for him, with an item like that. Kanade was smart enough to know, that magic like this did not exist in her world.
Still, the scale... It did give her a warm feeling, gave her hope, the strength she needed to go on. Even in an unknown world like this. She was scared to be all alone, apart from her friends and her ill father! This was why in some way, this gesture saved her. In the same way she hoped her music would save someone in future.
She would never forget the concern and meaning behind that gift. It was better than any medication he could have prescribed her, even if it wasn’t his real intention. She’d treasure it forever, and to make sure of that, she even paid someone to help her to put the scale on a pendant for her. This way, the good luck charm would always be with her and remind her that she wasn’t alone. That there was still reason to go on...
“Doctor Asclepius!” She greeted him, once he opened the door. Another polite bow as a respectful greeting. Then she proceeded to show him the take-out bags she was carrying with her.
“I brought you lunch for today, I hope you didn’t eat yet?” But she couldn’t keep eye contact for long, then she had another apology to announce with that gift as well:
“S-sorry, that it’s take-out. I would have cooked something for you, but I’m not really skilled with that kind of stuff... I hope some spring rolls and fried rice is to your liking.” It’s been a long while since she had food like this. Her usual diet usually contained cup noodles, and if she was out with friends, they ate fries, which was the favorite dish of one of them...
The last time she shared take-out like this with someone was with her... No, now was not the time to get lost in thoughts about her father.
“My wrist also feels much better by the way. Still, I was hoping you could take another look at it as well, just to be sure. I really want to give it my all again and avoiding using my right hand was a real bother...”
