The Closure of Chronolium
Hello, Chronolium members!
To some of you, this may seem very sudden, while to others it may be something you’ve actually expected for some time now! To put it shortly, we the mods have decided to close the group, effective immediately and indefinitely.
It’s likely been rather evident that new developments in the group have slowed down significantly since the end of the last event and, as much as I wish I could say otherwise, that was not looking likely to change any time soon. While there have always been grand ideas behind the scenes, you can’t sustain an MFRP on ideas alone if there is no drive to write them, and few people to see them. To continue to run the group would mean accepting that new things would happen at a glacial pace, relative to what is expected of an MFRP, and we don’t feel that would be fair to lead the memberbase on like that.
Unfortunately, the biggest problem we never solved was that of attracting new faces to the group to really make Chronolium feel like a thriving community, and we know this has been felt by existing members. We’re sorry we could not do better in this regard, but for those of you in the group, especially those who have been with us from the start, we truly do thank you from the bottom of our heart for giving us a chance. We hope that you’ve been able to enjoy your time in the group up until this point regardless.
There is always a chance that Chronolium will reopen in the future. It may be again on Tumblr, if the circumstances are right or if there is space in the RP community for a “new” Tumblr-based MFRP. Or it may be reworked (significantly or otherwise) to fit a Discord or forum MFRP format instead, if it was decided those would be better options. But as of right now, the mod team has no plans for Chronolium—we are simply keeping our options open.
For you, the members, you are of course free to do what you’d like with your blogs. You can continue to write in the Chronolium setting, if you wanted to. The masterlist and all of its information will stay up, and since there will be no formal group anymore, you would naturally be allowed to edit and alter details in your writing as you see fit. Inbox runs will obviously not be conducted anymore, so there is no more approval process to write a new muse in the Chronolium setting; feel free to write whoever and whatever you’d like with whatever self-imposed limitations you wanted. Seriously, the setting is yours now, if you want it! Nothing would make us happier than to see someone building upon the foundation we laid down.
(Well, except for the Mod NPCs... we’ll keep those characters as our own OCs, if it’s all the same to you!)
Otherwise, if you plan on doing other things with your muse or blog, we like to think that in-character, The Council would have sent your muse back to their homeworld with a heartfelt goodbye and an apology that they could not save them. You can ignore this too, if you want, and make up your own personal ending for your muse, but that will be the ‘canon’ ending for Chronolium.
There is not much left to say here except again, thank you to our current members who stuck with us for so long. And from me, Mod Silk, a thank you to the mods I brought onto the team, too, for helping Chronolium last as long as it did. The support of the members and the assistance of my mods have been invaluable to me, and I wish I could have done better for you all.
Stay safe, and may you find a new place to call home.
— The Council.
