My friends and I had a little break for this week. A one day trip just to satisfy our longings. (You see, when we were students we love to take a trip especially at the beach, the waterfalls or go island hoping or travel to other cities just to relax a bit but with a tight budget. Up until now that we are blessed to have a little bit of money, compared before, we tend to have that "a must affordable adventure").
Anyway yesterday, after about 2-3 years, we went back to Hagimit Falls, Samal Island, Davao del Sur. It was my third time to be back and I must say there have been a lot of changes regarding their beautification.
I can't upload all the photos so I'll just type all the instructions needed on how to get there the "locals' way" (without spending that much).
Hagimit Falls is located at Peñaplata, Samal Island which is about 45mins-1hour travel time from Davao City.
NO NEED TO WORRY, this travel estimation covers:
a.) Depending where you are in Davao City or how far are you from the Sasa Wharf(Km.11). There are 2 ways to get to the wharf, you either ride a bus at the Magsaysay Park and your sure to have a good seat(if it's not peak hours or holiday) or ride a jeep going to Sasa Wharf (Km.11) and wait for the bus but the possibility of standing inside the bus is 80-90%.
b.) When in the barge, you can either stay inside the bus or walk around the barge and find a spot to take a picture of the sea, the island, etc. But mind you the travel span is only about 5-7mins. So be sure to hurry with those photos.
c.) Upon reaching Samal Island, your good to go. Until the bus reaches Peñaplata Central Warehouse/Bus Terminal.
d.) From there you will ride a "habal-habal"(motorcycle transportation usually good for 2 persons) or a "Tricycle"(it's actually a 4-wheeled vehicle good for 6 persons, describing this makes me realize why do we even call it TRIcylce..??lol). Just tell the driver your heading to Hagimit and they'll take you there. Voila! (^_^)
1.) Jeepney going to Magsaysay Park or Sasa Wharf (Km.11) depends where your staying in Davao City. Minimum fare would be -> Php8
2.a.) Bus fare: Magsaysay Park up to Peñaplata Central Warehouse/ Bus Terminal ->Php40
2.b.) Bus fare: Sasa Wharf (Km.11) up to Peñaplata Central Warehouse/Bus Terminal ->Php30
3.) Habal-habal fare going to Hagimit: Php20-25. Unfortunately, I really don't know how much a Tricycle cost because we usually ride a habal-habal, sorry!)
4.) Entrance fee in Hagimit Falls ->Php40
5.) Table and chair with umbrella (the cheapest), as shown in the photos ->Php150 (So Php150 divided by how many you are in a group. Again, we haven't tried renting a cottage or a room so we really don't know how much it costs ('-_-)y
Overall, our expenses was Php300-380 per person and there were 4 of us. We bought ready to eat viands and rice then soft drinks and water. It's cheaper when you bring homemade cooking each and share it but we were lazy that time. We are so happy our expenses was much less than our expected Php500 budget. (^_^)
-The good thing about Hagimit is that they don't have any corkage for food and drinks!^^
-Although, Hagimit Falls is a lot smaller compared to other waterfalls like Tinuy-an Waterfalls in Surigao, still an hour travel away from the city to detoxify yourselves is really a good deal!
