Oh no lmao you're getting a chunk from the Bedmint/Hagmint!!!

“So you’re a huge nerd?”  There was a teasing lilt to James’ tone, curling warmly around the words as they left his mouth.  

Something fuzzy blossomed in Fraser’s chest.  He was not used to this sort of teasing from someone he’d just met, especially around his interests.  The guys had lovingly given him shit over all of this years ago, if they even bothered to bring it up anymore.  He’d always done his best to be open about his interests and hobbies, just like his parents had taught him to be.  They taught him to hold his head high and proud, and Fraser always did.  “You saying that in a bad way, Hagens?”

Something dark flashed through James’ blue eyes.  Fraser blinked, wondering if it’d been a trick of the light.  “No.”  

He felt James’ foot nudge his, a gentle phantom press of sneaker on sneaker.  It was a test.  

Fraser held his gaze, heart pounding in his ears.  This is not where he had expected to see things going.  There was a small part of him that wanted to peer down the opening, see where the path led.  James’ eyes were really blue, and he had a great smile, pleasant features.  Fraser knew he could like looking at him, if he gave himself the chance.  

“Tell me more,” James said, voice soft.  The tip of his sneaker pushed a tad more firmer against the tip of Fraser’s sneaker.  “It’s hot when nerds geek out.”

And that - Fraser inhaled, knowing that his cheeks were stained red.  He was so out of practice with this.  Connor was never this forward about his intentions.  It was intriguing, having someone who very clearly knew what they wanted showing interest in him.   Well.  Connor knew what he wanted.  Fraser knew that.  It just somehow hadn’t ended up being him.

Ooooooo I could work with this. I could ABSOLUTELY work with this. The dynamics first and foremost with the BC guys that then follow him to the Bruins...hmmmmmmm....

James blinked up at Fraser, his pale blue eyes now a bloody red. "It won't hurt," he whispered, his voice soft and soothing. "Just ask Teddy." Fraser's heart thumped rapidly in his chest. He didn't believe him, not one single word that came out of his mouth - but, God, he'd let him, and that should've scared Fraser more than it did.

Fraser is kind to her, maybe even too kind, considering they're both being molded to be the very much needed golden 1C of the team. Anyone would kill for it, James included, but Fraser doesn’t seem to care much about competition, too focused on herself and what she can do to be better. It's just another thing added to the long list of things James is envious of her for.

When she first got here, she's sort of been expecting Fraser to be cold, maybe even mean. Give her the cold shoulder or say something about her boyish name disguised as a friendly chirp. But Fraser had bumped shoulders with her, smiling as she whispered good luck right before she stepped out for her rookie lap. She kind of wishes she were mean instead. At least then she'll know what to do, years of being in the program and sharing a locker room with Smitty and Gabo preparing her for it.
