Promptober 2020: Road Trip

Iwaizumi drives the van while Oikawa sits in the passenger seat wearing sunglasses. The song September by Earth, Wind, & Fire, plays from his phone. They’ve been alternating as drivers at every stop and once in a while, Matsuwaka or Hanamaki would have a turn. This trip was a spontaneous idea made by Iwaizumi. Thankfully, everyone was able to go. After all, they deserved a good break. Everyone worked hard this year.
“Ba duda, Ba duda, Ba duda, Badu...” Oikawa sings along to the music. Iwaizumi’s fingers grasp the wheel, tapping along to the music.
In the next row back, you, Matsuwaka, and Hanamaki are taking a selfie together. Then, behind you is Watari, Kunimi, and Kindaichi. Kindaichi sleeps while Kunimi and Watari have a chat with each other, eating some snacks. The very last row sits Yahaba and Kyoutani competing with each other in some video game.
The road is long. Rows of huge evergreen trees run along each side of the road. You’ve been driving from the early morning. The sun is still high up in the sky.
“Y/N-chan, give me your phone. I’ll take one photo of all of us since i’m in the front.” Oikawa reaches for your phone as you nod and hand to him. “Everybody! Look here!” Oikawa says a bit loudly to get the back’s attention. Iwaizumi looks at him then swiftly turns his eyes back to the road. “Yeah, except you Iwa-chan. Eyes on the road.” You hear Iwa grunt in response as the team start to pose for the picture (except Kunimi who is still asleep). “3...2...1..” Oikawa counts down before clicking. Iwaizumi manages to hit Oikawa’s face in time of the click, messing up his pose for the camera. “Iwa-chan!” Oikawa whines.
“That’s perfect. Send me that, y/n.” Iwa snickers, looking at you in the rearview. You laugh to which Oikawa turns and glares, making you stop. You clear your throat.
“Ok gimme my phone back, Oikawa.” You say.
“Hmmph, I’m gonna spam your phone with my precious selfies.”
“There’s already like a 1000 in there.” You pout at him.
“Let’s add another.” Oikawa says while clicking the camera multiple times.
Meanwhile, Matsuwaka now has the aux, playing OTW by Khalid. Hanamaki seemed to like the song, too as he hummed along.
“Hey, you guys wanna stop by McDonald’s?” Iwaizumi asks, looking at the rearview mirror towards the lot. Kunimi slowly starts to wake up, yawning. Kindaichi and the other kohai, including Kyoutani who stops mid-game, yell out.
“Yes!” You all havent had lunch yet and it was almost 1 pm.
“Alright, next stop McDonald’s...” Iwaizumi says, holding the wheel with one hand.
