This picture of a Hairy Frogfish was taken at Poopoh, about 15 minutes away from the resort. It is also known as a Striated FrogFish (Antennarius striatus). The 'hairs' are not really hairs but part of the animals skin. It is always a challenge to spot them. Apart from the camouflage provide by the hairs, they can also change colour depending on the surroundings. The spotting is not only difficult for divers and snorkelers. Almost any animal that comes within a a few centimeters of the frogfish is as good as for sure dinner.
