When you’re sick
This is mostly based on the “Illness in Summer” special episode.
Hijikata:
He tends to stay away. He doesn’t want to catch what you have. After all, he has a mountain of work to do. He has Yamazaki tend to you in his place.
He comes by a couple times a day to ask if you need anything.
He’s actually very worried, but believes that you can pull through. He believes in your strong will and strength.
Saito:
He will go out of his way to tend to you at night while he is off duty. He doesn’t care if he catches anything. He just wants to see you well again.
He will buy medicine in his free time during the day.
He will insist that a doctor be called in if you’re not better after a couple days. It’s not that he doesn’t believe in you. He just wants to be cautious.
He actually catches whatever you have, leaving Yamazaki to tend to both of you.
Souji:
He teases you, saying you look worse than he does. While that may be true, his goal is to lighten the mood and make you feel better. He’s not good with things like medicine, so he’ll demand that someone who is takes a look at you.
He tries to cook rice porridge for you but fails miserably due to his lack of taste. Thankfully somebody corrects him and makes him start over.
He sits with you while you eat. This is partly because he’s afraid you wouldn’t like it and partly because he wants to assure himself that you can at least keep food down.
Heisuke:
He does all of your work for you. He believes you won’t be so stressed if you know that your chores are getting completed.
He checks in on you every now and then and offers to bring you anything you want.
He starts to panic and get upset if you aren’t better after a couple days. Harada and Nagakura have to knock some sense into him to get the boy to stop pacing in front of your room.
Harada:
While on his rounds, he looks for things that are suppose to help with sickness. He brings you what he finds as soon as he gets back.
He asks if there is anything you need or want him to do. He’ll spend time conversing with you and making you feel like you’re not bedridden. After all, sickness can be just as hard on the mind as it is the body.
He holds your hand and keeps you company at night until you fall asleep.
Nagakura:
He skips out on drinking in favor of spending time with you. He knows that there’s no way his glorious body would allow him to get sick, so he can spend as much time as possible with you.
He brings you your favorite sweets, hoping that it will give you a break from suffering.
He knows you will get better soon. He talks to you about all the things you can do together once you’re better. He knows that this will strengthen your will to get better.
Kazama:
He stays by your side, completely disregarding the needs of his clan. He’s not talkative, and he spends his time reading.
He knows you are unable to protect yourself in the slightest in your current state, and he must protect his wife. He doesn’t want to let you out of his sight. The only exception would be to get something you need or desire.
He will call in a doctor if you’re not better after a couple days. He’s started to worry at that point, but he won’t show it.
