Two Human Beings (The Lonely Ones)
Recently had the opportunity to visit the Harvard Art Museum which is hosting an exhibit of late-19th, early-20th century Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, well known for 'The Scream'. In the exhibit they had many prints similar to the above design which he created over many years.
The two lonely people are staring off into the sea. I couldn't help draw the parallels to my favorite fantasy couple. It just feels so Haladriel-coded.
I could see this taking place in the 4th Age or beyond looking back at the sea where they first met and all that happened between them over those many thousands of years.
I think it's true how much RoP inherited from a standard archetype in art of woman of light and man of darkness. I wonder why that imagery happens to be so appealing to us across time and art form?
