Two nights ago I sat in a restaurant with my family. The singing from the table behind us signified that it was not just my birthday.
Grandparents were sitting at the center of a long table. The grandmother holding a newborn baby, her husband next to her, surrounded by their five married children, each with two kids. They were celebrating the grandmother’s birthday and that of the newest baby.…

Today's demonstration in Nabi Saleh against the theft of Palestinian land and nearby fresh water spring, West Bank, Friday, March 14, 2014.
It's now four years that the people of Nabi Saleh along with international activists have been protesting every single Friday after Jumu'ah prayers against Israel stealing their land in the form of the nearby illegal Jewish settlement of Halamish. To rub salt into the wounds, the very settlers living in Halamish have occupied Ein al-Qaws, their nearby fresh water spring.
Jewish settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law but Israel is only increasing and speeding up construction - another clear message that Israel is vehemently working against peace. The population in illegal West Bank settlements has grown twice as much as in Israel itself.
131 Palestinian structures have already been demolished this year to make way for settlements, displacing 241 people.
