Halemaumau, Kilauea, Hawaii, Volcano Research Association, 1924
YEAR IN REVIEW 2018 - October 1, 2018 - Dip ahead! Good-sized cracks (small slump faults?) exposed along a closed section of Crater Rim Drive, near the edge of Halemaumau crater in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The eruption and explosions from May to August of 2018 shattered the Kilauea summit area.

My last view of Kilauea’s Halema’uma’u crater before i left the park this morning morning... I’ll miss being able to walk 5 minutes to see this...
