Reyen Dubault is the child of Clarisse and Donavan Dubault, current heads of the well known Dubault family that has lived in the quiet city of Abriven for several generations. A wizarding family, the Dubaults spend their days studying or using their magic for more aesthetic purposes such as performances at festivals or opening ceremonies at celebrations. Reyen, however, has aspired from a young age to become an adventurer who would use her magic to go on noble quests and better the world around her, much to the dismay of her family who adamantly discouraged such a lifestyle due to its danger. Only Reyen’s uncle and first tutor, Garett, understood and encouraged her ambition, a choice that ultimately led to he and his wife being disowned and cast out by the rest of the Dubaults. Despite her new tutors and her family adamantly opposing of her ambitions, Reyen continued to hone the more offense-oriented magic her uncle taught her in secret as she grew up until she finally ran away one night, thus beginning her journey towards self-sufficiency, self-discovery, and fulfillment. However, it soon became apparent that her parents would not let her go so easily, for shortly after her flight, they began advertising a bounty, promising a hefty sum for any party who could deliver their prodigal home where she belongs. It is while running from one of these hired groups that she first encounters the members of Vox Machina, a meeting which ultimately binds her fate to their own.
