Umemiya x reader/oc
So,
this was a work I started ages ago... finally finished it.
The ending has some smut in so minors, I'd rather you not read.
I felt like finishing a piece and this is what I picked...chose to not to go into explicit smut.
Story contains female oc, so if not comfortable with it...scroll on.
It became 10 pages long in google docs, words: 2818.
Buuuut it's finished.
The freshly smelling coffee was just in her hand’s reach, tempting the woman to take a sip of it before a loud screech startled the said nurse. Fujimura Kanna jumped, hitting her knee against the table, causing the coffee to rattle before it caved to the gravity.
She stared at the falling coffee with a horrified expression, watching as the drink was spilled everywhere while a certain asshole’s voice blasted in the entire school.
There was a loud splash and clatter.
Frozen in her seat, Kanna stared at the mess with a twitching eyebrow and growing irritation as Umemiya Hajime was giving his usual new school year greeting, all while ignoring Hiragi's reminder to use a warning bell.
Kanna's green eyes fell on her new blouse, one she'd been eyeing for months now. It'd been expensive and now … was ruined because of the asshole.
She could almost hear crickets somewhere in the background.
Then, as Umemiya ended the speech with a request for the boys to protect the town, she let out a loud shout.
Her colourful curse startled one of the boys who'd been standing at the doorway, planning to ask for a headache pill, however, the instant he saw her murderous expression the second-year fled. His face had turned as pale as a chalk, and he was muttering something about witches or demons lurking in the school.
Kanna left the spilled coffee cup in its place, marching straight towards the rooftop where she knew Umemiya would be going next until she heard him ask Hiragi if he wanted to get food. All before he ended the broadcast.
There was no time to be wasted if she wanted to catch him at the Furin territory. Lest Kanna be dealing with a bigger headache and that was playing hide-and-seek with Umemiya. That was not something she wanted, nor had any energy now that she lost her coffee.
It was the precious coffee Kanna had gotten Kotoha to make especially for her. One she kept for when her energy was running low, and right now, she felt like killing someone…preferably a certain plant-loving idiot.
Their long-standing friendship no longer mattered, not when he caused her to ruin her favourite new blouse.
“UMEMIYA HAJIME!” Kanna’s voice roared in the hallways, causing anyone loitering to get out of the angry nurse’s path.
It wasn't anything new for the students of Furin High School to see their Nurse, Fujimura Kanna, marching down the hallways, a murderous glint in her eyes as she chased after the Head of Bofurin.
In fact, it was a sight as regular as cats fighting, with Hiragi blaming this on them growing up together and Umemiya purposefully pressing the buttons on Kanna's patience. He’d been watching the two since his first year, since the day he decided to follow Umemiya and had long given up on trying to understand their dynamics. Kotoha had tried to explain but this only made him more confused than ever.
(Somewhere, in class 1-1, Sakura Haruka was looking around with widened eyes, asking what that scream was about, and Nirei Akihiko asked Suo Hayato if this was their infamous Nurse from the multiple rumours he'd heard. Suo merely smiled. Kiryu grinned and Tsugeura laughed, heartily, commenting something about a virtue. Sugihisa looked as though he was contemplating going to help Umemiya before deciding against it, the last time he'd interfered, she'd threatened to cut his hair and burn the plants.)
Meanwhile, the woman in question was muttering colourful promises to what she'd be doing to the asshole once she got her hands on him. How many times had she told him to use the fucking warning bell? Or let the staff know he was gonna pull that shit??? Did he listen? Noooo.
I should start a petition to ban him from doing the announcements.
Kanna paid no attention to what she zoomed past, too engrossed in her mutterings to have noticed curious Kaji, Enomoto, and Kusumi stare after her (them already knowing this was gonna happen, checking each other where they stood with the on-going bet, Kusumi sent a text to the third years, letting them know they spotted infuriated Kanna before going back to their class). Or that she was speeding past the first year classrooms, right when she spotted familiar backs.
With a glint in her darkened green eyes, Kanna took off and once she was close enough, she jump-kicked at Umemiya, who was talking animatedly with Hiragi. She clicked her tongue when Umemiya dodged her effortlessly, slowly turning to her with a blink as she landed. She spun around to give him a murderous look.
“Huh!?!”
Hiragi Toma was quick to notice the spilled coffee on Kanna’s blouse, and with a sigh, he grabbed his Gas-10 tablets before swallowing several while the two of them started their usual spat.
“Mh? Hey, Kanna-chan~, what brings you here?” Umemiya asked, calmly dodging as another punch was aimed at his head, looking slightly amused as he easily towered over the shorter woman.
If there was anything he knew about the Fujimura woman, then it was her heavy dislike regarding the visible difference between their heights. He recalled Kanna's barely audible mutterings about how she's always one of the shortest, no matter where she went. And once Umemiya had hit his growth spurt, she'd glowered at him with a nasty expression.
However, before anything could happen, Kotoha would lure Kanna away with a promise of coffee, and some sweets. The Nurse's coffee addiction was widely known in Makochi Town, and it has saved Umemiya's life (ass) several times.
He blinked, his grey eyes taking a closer look at the irritated Nurse, who just happened to be his childhood friend. Kanna was a few years older than him, and left the orphanage once she turned eighteen, choosing to stay in the town and work here rather than taking that high-end paying job offer he knew she received.
He remembered being surprised when she started to work at Furin instead, that was before he claimed the Leader's position. He thought that Kanna couldn't wait to get out of Makochi town, whenever they sat together and simply hung out, she'd mentioned the possibility of leaving several times.
It'd left a sour taste in his mouth, making him watch her with a feeling he tried to ignore. Even when he held her close as they gazed at the night sky.
“How many times have I said to use that god-damn warning bell, huuuh, Umemiya?” She growled, making Hiragi give Umemiya a look. He did warn the idiot.
“Ah, gomen, I forgot which button it was,” Umemiya scratched his neck, eyeing her warily. They all knew he wasn't sorry at all.
“Then let someone else press them, you asshole!”
Kanna-san looks like a cat, Hiragi thought with a snort as he envisioned cat ears popping up on her long orange-brown hair as she hissed at Bofurin’s Leader, and a puffy tail.
Ah, he couldn't let her find out about this, Hiragi shook his head, turning his attention back to the duo. Umemiya’s expression held amusement, while Kanna’s was that of annoyance.
“Where's the fun in that?”
“Fun?!? What fun do you need to give others a heart attack?!?”
“Now that's an exaggeration, Kanna-cha~n.”
She faked a punch, before stomping on Umemiya's feet, making him wince. She didn't hold back, Hiragi thought, pulling out his phone to text Kotoha-chan about another antic of theirs.
All of sudden, Tsubaki plopped up, pulling the fuming Nurse to her embrace. She hadn't noticed anyone approaching them, most people knew not to get involved with Kanna and Umemiya, even Hiragi hesitated. The consequences varied, depending on how bad Kanna's mood was and what Umemiya did (Sugihisa was her favourite to try and lure him to her side).
Unless that person was…
“And here I thought that nurse wasn't allowed to kill anyone?” Tsubakino Tasuku grinned down at her, flashing a peace sign to Hiragi who was shaking his head at the way their leader was jumping around, while blowing air at his hurt foot.
Kanna glanced up, her anger slowly starting to disappear. She's always had a fond spot for Tsubakino Tasuku, and the Sakaki twins flocked to her side as usual. The only person, besides Kotoha, who could get away with almost anything was Tsubaki.
Umemiya glanced up from where he was nursing his foot, eyes slightly watered as he wondered how exactly had Tsubaki managed to get Kanna bond with her like that. She wasn't the type to let people get close to her. But here she was - she had been ready to kill him just a second ago and only a few words from Tsubaki had calmed her down.
He was almost jealous.
“Plus that leg looks painful enough,” Tsubaki added, smiling at the nurse who pouted.
The Sakaki twins could be heard asking Hiragi what happened this time, wanting to know who won the ongoing bingo-bet. It wasn't a secret that Furin had a bet going on for what causes Kanna to go after Umemiya, and how (right now, Mizuki was on the lead). Kanna was well aware of the bet, and had opted to ignore it. For her own sanity.
“...Fine,” Kanna sighed, leaning into Tsubaki, relishing in the warmth she exhibited. “I'll have the keys to the announcement room though, ain't letting the bastard in there again, though.”
“Here,” Hiragi instantly said, tossing her the said keys which she caught with a glare directed at Umemiya. She pocketed the keys without a second thought, eyeing Umemiya testing his foot before he winced.
Maybe she went a bit too far…
“Let’s have a look at that leg,” she sighed, gesturing for Tsubaki to release her.
Umemiya looked up at her with eyes that nearly sparkled, she felt her hand twitch. “Getting looked at by Kanna-chan is the best!”
“...Dumbass,” Kanna muttered, patting Tsubaki on the head and giving the twins a greeting. Muttering something to Hiragi, so that he didn’t need to worry about her possibly killing their friend anymore.
And gestured to Umemiya to follow her.
“Try not to piss her off, Umemiya!” Hiragi called after them, making Umemiya laugh and saying how he can’t promise anything.
“You know this reminds me of the time when I twisted my ankle as a kid,” Umemiya said, making her snort, and notice how he wasn’t actually limping. He was walking normally, without wincing or dancing around.
“You’re still not an adult yet, don’t go around acting as though you’re old enough to say shit like that,” Kanna said, crossing her arms, eyebrow twitching. She remembered how he was as a child, she remembered the times they grew up and the shit he pulled. To her, he was still the same little brat who liked to bug the hell out of her.
“Your foot’s not hurting you that much, is it?” She asked, once they’d stepped into her office.
Umemiya headed straight towards his usual seat, a spot he liked to chill in whenever he had free time to bother her. To distract her. He flashed her a grin, “To be fair, it did hurt at first since you stomped me with all your might.”
She tried to aim another punch which he dodged.
“Knew it,” Kanna pulled out a chair. “I’ve seen you take worse hits and still not feel a thing.”
Umemiya blinked, “If you’re talking about during the darker times, sure but I wouldn’t say I didn’t feel anything.”
“Right, unhook that boot and show me that foot,” Kanna tried not to think of the days when Endo and Takishii were in Furin. When the rest of Noroshi members had been around to create chaos, to create hell.
She was a bit surprised when Umemiya said nothing as she checked his foot, noticing a small swelling but not much else. It was rare for them to have quiet, peaceful moments as Umemiya couldn’t help but open up his mouth. Not impossible, but rare.
She blinked, the last time had happened…he’d done something unexpected which she tried to act as though it didn’t happen.
“What are you thinking about?”
Kanna bit her lips, applying slight pressure before finishing the bandaging. It wasn’t really needed but she felt bad, a little bit.
“About getting you banned from the broadcast room,” it wasn’t a full lie, but she chose not to look in his eyes.
“Ah, well, I was thinking of the last time we were like this.”
Against her better judgement, Kanna glanced at him, putting the first-aid kit back to where they belonged on the desk. He was grinning, fingers on his lips in a suggestive manner. She blinked.
“Umemiya…”
“Isn’t it Hajime?”
She sighed, “We’re at school.”
“Just this once?”
“Now where have I heard this before, just this once - just this time - just one more time…”
He chuckled, “And yet, you’ve never straight up refused me.” He patted the spot next to him on the bed he’d chosen to sit on. She rolled her eyes but obliged his whims.
“You’re just impossible to ignore.”
“Or you love me?”
“Don’t push your luck.”
His eyes were peering into her soul, making her slightly tense and aware of his closeness to her. A small part of her mind wondered if he’d locked the door after he followed her to the Infirmary. There’d be no explaining if someone walked in. Sure, everyone knew Umemiya was protective of Kanna. Just as he was over Kotoha.
But with Kanna, Umemiya was seen acting a bit differently.
For example, he disliked seeing others flirting with her. He’d try to subtly sabotage her past relationships, making them see his importance in her life over theirs. All in Umemiya’s style. In a manner that wouldn’t get him caught, unless you knew where to look.
Hiragi had asked him why he never asked her out, and honestly, he hadn’t known the right answer. One of the reasons was Kanna being a nurse, and he a student. But that was on her side.
Umemiya knew the risks that would come if she did cave to him…he knew the risks of being with a delinquent. Even if that delinquent was a hero in the eyes of everyone in Makochi Town.
He brushed a stray hair behind Kanna’s ear, trying to find something in her green eyes before he slowly leaned in.
“Even if we’re at school, I want you to call me Hajime when we’re alone,” he said with a look she couldn’t pull away from.
She shuddered, hearing something in his tone that she wasn’t used to hearing. It had been the same tone he used before he kissed her the last time.
“I’m going to kiss you now, is that ok?”
She was able to part her lips before he claimed them, softly kissing her as he pulled her close to him. His one hand was coiled around her waist, fingers caressing her body. And the other holding her head, fingers trapped in her hair.
She gasped into the kiss.
This kiss felt so much different than that haste kiss he’d given to her the last time, surprising her in the orphanage’s kitchen where she’d been cooking dinner for the kids. He’d snuck up on her and without a warning hastily kissed her before asking what she was making. There’d been no explanation, no warning … no nothing.
And now?
It felt sensual, a lot like her ex had made her feel… every word of protest was shoved behind the back of her mind when he laid her on the bed. When he kissed her neck, fingers moved below her skirt. She would be lying if she said she never thought about Umemiya as something more than her childhood friend, she and Kotoha had talked about boys a lot more than they knew.
“H-H-Hajime!” She gasped, enjoying the way his touch burned on her skin. It was easy to lose oneself to Umemiya Hajime and she was no different.
Especially when he whispered sweet words into her ear, when he thrust his fingers through her wet folds and when he’d take her there. Oh, Mizuki was so winning the bet, Kanna thought as she held tightly onto Hajime.
One thing was certain, she’d need to have a proper talk with Umemiya Hajime later to set some rules if this was going to be a regular thing. If she meant more to him than liking the chase. Of course, she’d noticed those phantom touches over the years…whenever he thought no one else was watching, he’d place his hand in places she never expected him to.
Those half-hearted jokes of him taking her on as a bride if no one else wanted her.
She wondered of possibilities, while her eyes gazed at Hajime towering over her and claiming her as his.
