For anyone who doesn't know, we don't actually know if she was meant to be a ghost type gym leader. She had a sprite error in the original games where her kimono was folded in the direction traditionally reserved for corpses. This was corrected in Yellow version. They have never made an official statement, so we don't know if it was originally intentional and not changing it was the error or if it was never meant to face that way and the whole direction was the error.
