im such a spikemaxxer today but it says something that the scoobies tried to help his ungrateful ass in season 4 and in turn genuinely kept forgetting that he wasn't a helpful or even neutral guy he proved that he was a selfish asshole multiple times in season 4 and finally when they discovered his big manipulation moment and his final betrayal they ignored the hell out of him when he came back pretending like he was a part of their squad and that would normally be really funny and believe me it is but it's actually so sad he is the vamp who cried wolf a few too many times and he didn't realize how much he appreciated when people invaded his space and asked for help or gave him any attention at all until he completely sabotaged it and they hate spike's ass for a really long time after that and even during the summer they were all a big team spike finds out they not only brought buffy back but they didn't even tell him and he's outside crying about it and then he stops being a part of their team. it's lowkey all his fault but it's so sad
