[April 5, 2025] - A sketch from last year of Baumer, the rifle-wielding half-ogre mentioned in the in-game book, The Hunters Hunted.

I remember being befuddled on how tall half-Ogres are. Their manual entry says they're 10' tall but the intro cutscene + in-game sprites say another thing. Maybe they're that tall if they stand up straight, considering that they're hunched + have bent knees in their sprites?

Arcanum Manual: Half-ogres, then, show both sides of their parentage quite clearly. In body they are only slightly smaller than pure-blooded ogres, having a height which averages roughly 120 inches [10 ft], or some 300 centimeters [9.8 ft].

Was trying to figure out how I personally wanted to differentiate Orcs and Ogres since the 5e canonical depictions have very similar facial features despite not being taxonomically related. So doodled some averages to refer back to and added some other relatives.

Hey all, I’m still sick and still working on that class, but in the mean time I think you still deserve something to tide you over.

We’re nearing the end of my current campaign, and my half-ogre player didn’t have any reference material for their class since I guess they forgot to save it so I decided to make up a newer, shinier version. I’m not sure where this stands on the spectrum of busted, and mind you this has only been used at my table where it doesn’t seem too out of the question most of the time, but this is probably the closest I’ve gotten to making a busted race. Originally, these guys were large creatures, as they are in the DMG, but I immediately found it annoying to have a large PC in the game so I changed it to medium. I say this because the +1d6 bonus damage was my workaround for the gamebreaking rule in the DMG that doubles all weapon damage dice for large creatures. That would mean that greatswords for 4d6. Greataxes 2d12. THAT is over the top, and I think an additional 1d6 is just right, though maybe 1d4 would be more balanced. For a player who just wants to throw big melee damage around, this is definitely the way to go, and the half-oni would be a great way to make a strong (strength-wise) spellcaster, something I’ve never actually tried.

Drawthread request of a L5R Half-Ogre who managed to score some Dragon Clan gear in her travels.

The warband is complete. The half-elf magic user, the shieldmaiden, the half-orc assassin, the fighter, the half-ogre fighter and the scout. Names will come and stories shall follow. Also an NPC who shall be a warlock or monk, I have yet to decide.
