White Bengal Tiger. By Shaiful Alam™
Since I was young I have always been taught to love myself. I had always been told that I was of a rare breed, yet I always disregarded what it was meant to mean. I wanted to forget my background and be a normal American teen. I wanted to be like those that I seen on the TV screen. I had totally disregarded who my people were, the battles they fought, and the love that they sought. I had leaned to the part of me that was westernized, the part of me that was blind toward the world in front of my eyes. I thought that I could find happiness in the things that would eventually perish. I sought comfort in privileges that we should cherish. Yet I came to the realization that I should dig deep, look in to my roots, and harvest the fruits of my ancestors. You see, I had always thought that my background was normal. But I failed to realize that I come from such a vibrant people. People who love warmly, pray sincerely, and live simply. People who talked with action, instead of words. People who spread a message not by the sword but through love. People who sought inner peace. Those people, My people, will always run through my veins. They will always pick me up when I am down and filled with inner and outer pain. Until my very last breath I will try to follow in their steps. I will bring honor to their names. I am a rare breed. I am a White Bengal Tiger.
