She's a little flustered at the moment. As much as she loves her aunt ( or rather - the closest thing she has to a mother figure ) she cant help but grow flustered each time she suggests a new partner for marriage. Especially with Kiba being brought up. It's true she wants to wed before her father decides on a groom for her - but she can't just ask a friend to get married randomly.
Plus, she doesnt want to chain down or burden somebody just for her to escape.
❝ Why is marriage . . . so complicated? ❞

Call it a sort of hubris, or even being used to getting away with a lot over the years that aids in Sasuke's tongue being looser and sharper even to his 'elders'. There was never any real consequences, maybe a disapproving look or so, but it wasn't anything he wasn't used to. Disapproving glances were easier to swallow than glances out of suspicion; bred from either knowing who he was or seeing what crest rested on his back.
Therefore, he didn't think twice about the words that left his mouth when responding to the Hyuuga lady's complaints, complete with a snort and subtle roll of his eyes despite knowing she couldn't see with his back to her. ( Or maybe she could -- you never really knew with those eyes, he supposed. ) The silence lulls him, arms crossed over his chest as he keeps sharp eyes out for any movements that could be considered strange or suspicious, fully ready to ignore her once more --
Before a sharp gasp, born of pure surprise escapes him; dark eyes widening at the sudden warm dampness that attacks the back of his shirt and hair, soaking them both and making them stick to his skin. The genin's body was rigid, expression open in his mild disbelief as his mind fought to catch up to what exactly just happened.
Did she ...
Did she just throw tea at him??
A mix of emotions swirls within him, and he's unsure which one to pin down in the moment. Indignation, embarrassment, shock, even a hint of anger -- who the hell did she think she was?? Lips move without anything escaping his mouth before teeth grit and he tries again, turning sharply to turn his full glare onto Nana's rising form; cheeks tinted a faint red.
"You --- You don't get to just call the mission ... !" Nevermind the fact that it would look bad, if it got back to the Hokage that the mission went so wrong that the person he was supposed to be "protecting" and "escorting" decided that she couldn't take his company for a moment longer. "If you're going home, I'm taking you there. Whether you like or not -- In case you forgot, the contract is valid until all conditions are met ... !"
It was a struggle to rein his voice in, to stop himself from sounding like some indignant child. "Just because you had a tantrum doesn't mean it's your call to fire me -- " Okay, maybe the last comment could of been kept to himself.

“I feel like I’d find more lively company in a cemetery.” / @halfhyuga !
Mikoto couldnt help but bark out a laugh.
“Spirits are quite lively, contrary to popular belief. They’ll tell you a lot if you listen for it.”
@halfhyuga asked: ‘sasuke !’ she got lucky, he was already supposed to be gone on some mission by now. waiting for that teacher of his, she's sure. maybe he thought she wouldn't find out, or remember, - or care. but she knew, she remembered, and she cared. ‘did you think i'd forget ? or were you just hoping i would ?’ nana smiles as she produces a small charm from her pocket. nothing too fancy, but it's heavy and durable; the best money can buy. ‘its a good luck charm, but the saleswoman told me you can sharpen your weapons on it.' ‘don't worry, though. when you get back we'll do something together, i'll take you out for dinner, my treat."
happy birthday, Sasuke! | July 23rd
-
It wasn't like it was intentional -- Sasuke hadn't made a concentrated effort to keep his birthday some sort of secret, even with how private he tended to be. It just ... never really came up. They talked about a number of different subjects based on what bubbled up during conversation, sure, but it was second nature to offer only crumbs and bits of deeper information about himself.
-- Not like it mattered, really, considering that Nana found out somehow anyway.
Sasuke feels himself stiffen at the 'accusation', hands still stuffed into his pockets as his lips part before he closes it at the unflattering sound that leaves him, warmth pooling over his cheeks. Something like embarrassment constricts him as he feels Naruto and Sakura's gazes go from the Hyuuga towards him, understanding brightening them in very different ways. Sakura's expression seemed to brighten upon the realization of what today was, and Naruto's seemed to brighten ... at seeing how fidgety Sasuke had gotten at Nana's arrival. Wonderful.
He turns from them both, giving the woman his full attention despite himself, holding out his hand to accept the gift easily enough. It was pretty hefty in his palm, dark eyes considering it as the woman explained it. A charm, hm? -- An interesting sort, obviously made not to get in the way of a ninja's attire, and also doubling to assist with weapons.
It was ... nice. The genin liked it -- even if the only indication that he did was sliding it into his pocket in acceptance.
" ... Right, well ... "
He clears his throat, hooking a thumb in his pocket as he looked away; cursing how he was certain the red on his cheeks were noticeable, given how pale he could be. "You don't ... have to do that. It'll be way past today when we get back anyway -- don't waste your money."
But even under the teenaged flusher, there was something ... warm in response to the firm care. His birthday had come and gone for the past five years with no fanfare, and he had grown used to ignoring it altogether. Nana's determination to offer some sort of celebration almost reminded me of --
Dark eyes flickered up towards her face before looking away; the blush darkening. " ... Whatever. It'll be your money you're wasting, not mine."

Sakura inches her face away as far as Nana's hold on her will let her. "Stop! Stop!" she insists, "I'm fine, really, Nana-san!" She takes Nana by the wrists, holding onto them gently. "I'm not a little genin anymore. I'm fine. My body just needs some time to rest."
“Who hasn’t had gay thoughts?” / halfhyuga
"Oh, you're not wrong." There's a hint of alchol on her breath, else she wouldn't be so quick to respond to something like this. While she isn't going to divulge any significant personal details, she is definitely more chatty after a few drinks.
"Art is art, after all."

Nana's touch is soft on her skin, but where tears had once been new ones quickly came to take their place. "Why can't I stop crying?" she says. Tears trickle down into Sakura's open palms that ball up into fists. "It's all I ever do, and I can't seem to make it stop." Her sobs catch at her voice as she speaks, preventing her from letting out the scream she can feel inside her chest.
