RHAENYRA TARGARYEN MODERN AU💸
.
.
.
This is what I imagine if Rhaenyra lived in modern times—
@halfyearsqueen's : rhaenyra targaryen liked for a starter from, jacaerys velaryon.
THE STONE MAP TABLE GLOWS LIKE A FUNERAL PYRE THAT SHAN'T EVER BE LIT. jacaerys' fingers curl inward to form fists at either sides of his body, his nails biting painfully at the flesh curled within.
this wasn't fair, this wasn't right. the thoughts thrum like drums, too loud to go unheard. luke had gone as a peaceful envoy of one against a war machine, and a man with half a mind gone mad with revenge. there was no part of jace that could not concur that he should have gone with his brother, that he should have accompanied lucerys to stormsend... for in his mind, there is no graver failure— than that of failing to protect his family.
still, he musters some amount of strength as his mother enters the room ( black on black, the color of mourning ) and stands up straighter, eyes and pug face to her entrance at the mouth of the map room as he begins to step towards her, both hands outstretched as to take hold of her arms.
" mother . . . "

ㅤㅤㅤJacaerys was restless. Two baseborn men had succeeded in claiming dragons of their own, succeeding where their peers had failed. He had witnessed countless of them fail, succumbing to flame or being devoured whole. It had been his idea to search for Dragonseeds and enlist them to their cause. Vermithor and Silverwing were large enough to rival Vhagar, who remained a threat to Queen Rhaenyra and her forces. Jace should have been excited. They now stood a fighting chance against the Greens. But he couldn't ignore what would now be obvious for all to see. ㅤㅤㅤEven somebody as common and uncouth as Ulf could command a dragon. What was to stop him from usurping the throne because of it? Jace's bond with Vermax had proven his legitimacy time and time again, quieting a vicious court and their ruthless gossip. Rhaenyra had seen his plan through, leaving Jacaerys with a sickly feeling that he couldn't shake. One day he would have to contend with these mongrels for the throne, and Vermax was a fraction of their size. Jace had tried his best to distract himself by pouring over Valyrian history but had failed desperately time and time again. His mind drifted back to a conversation with his mother that had lingered like a burn.
ㅤㅤㅤ"Then don't pursue it."
ㅤㅤㅤ"But I cannot gainsay that which the gods have laid before me."
ㅤㅤㅤJace caught silver hair in the corner of his eye. A stray dragonseed? He had thought them all sent away or burned to a crisp. This girl appeared to be his age and was dressed far too nicely to be common. She carried herself with a regal air, but that didn't prevent her from earning his contempt. He snaps his book shut, alerting her to his presence. Jace steps forward, his brown eyes hard and unyielding. "If you've come seeking dragons, you're far too late. Now be gone. All the others have already returned home; I suggest you do the same."
@halfyearsqueen gets a starter! ft. joffrey
"Mama!" He hasn't seen his mother in so long. Joffrey runs to Rhaenyra, throwing himself into her arms with a joyous laugh. He missed her. The Vale was fine, they had treated him and his brothers well, but his heart longed to be here. His heart longed to be reunited with his family. "I missed you."
𝐃𝐀𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐑𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐒 𝐈𝐅 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅. ever since she returned from her search from looking for her brother, conformation of his demise like she had been told. days spent worrying about her mother, distracting herself by personally caring for her youngest brothers. now, however, she's returned home. just as saddened, broken, than when she had left . . perhaps more, even. rhaenyra has hardly spoken a word since her return which leaves daenyra to ask what she needs, wants, & provide them even if it feels like a guessing game half of the time. while the daughter is just as saddened by what happened to luke, her instinct to care for others has taken over. to prioritize them over herself. it's why she bends down now, knees on the floor beside where rhaenyra sits. before her sits aegon & viserys, playing in their oblivious childhood. reaching out, daughter takes her mothers hand into her own. wordlessly, daenyra leans down to press a kiss to her mothers knuckles--eyes not lifting themselves as she speaks: ❛ let me help, mother. ❜ voice threatens to crack slightly. ❛ if only to provide you comfort. ❜

alyssa's eyes brightened as she saw her grand daughter. having long since ceded the throne, she made a home on dragonstone while her children and grandchildren were only a short flight across the water in king's landing. then when all had begun she'd been forced to pick a side and it had nearly killed her. she worried for both her children and for her grand daughter as well, so much so that when they returned she was always overcome with a wave of relief. "rhaenyra!" she smiled, pushing herself up from her chair in order to pull her grand daughter into a bone crushing hug. "you smell of dragon. where were you and syrax off to now?"

@halfyearsqueen, rhaenyra targaryen.
conflicted, is what she feels. both sorry for the girl for the burden she now bears, and jealous, despite her best judgement. always the presumed heir, yet never named, rhaenys looked at this girl who was being given everything she ever wanted. but she is nothing if she is not stoic, holding her emotions buried deep. " lots of duties ahead of you. are you ready to carry the burden? "
