I've made my way back to the East Coast and am busy working away in the studio. Fenn Martin has very generously cleaned out a corner of his studio for me to use. I will be participating in Halifax Crafters for the first time April 5 and 6. I'm going to try to stick around for a while. See what I can get into.
Resolutions
I didn't stop and thank everyone who made Halifax Crafters' winter show the incredible weekend that it was. To the organizers... everyone puts their heart and soul into planning and organization. Thank-you for creating an event that Halifax and I look forward to every year. And to the customers... thank-you for your growing support. It was a pleasure to meet new people and reconnect with others who stopped by last year.
On the last day I treated myself to a couple of items. There are so many other incredible crafters, it's hard to say no!
After the weekend, I was busy filling orders for Christmas. I had the opportunity to knit some custom orders which are always a welcome challenge. One of my favourite so far this winter were these mittens. I expanded on my popular fox fingerless mitts to create two pairs of children's mittens. If they were my size I would have had a hard time parting with them.
With this new year that just started I would like set some goals. If they're out here for the public to see then I'll have no choice but to accomplish them. The first is to blog more. Of course. I'm constantly knitting but I don't take the time to update. So even if it's a small project or weekly update I would like to post at least once a week. Second is to get some of my patterns into a PDF format for sale. This one has been on my mind for a while so it's time to do it.
It's that time of yearn again! I'll be at the Halifax Crafters this weekend so come out and say hi! I have lots to post about, once this crazy weekend is over.
Pop Up!
I'll be participating in the first ever Halifax Crafters' Pop Up Market at Two If By Sea in Dartmouth. I'll be previewing some of my new accessories for Fall and have some of last year's favourites. Come over early and grab a coffee and something handmade!
Spring Grind
Spring seems (on some days) to have sprung and my nose has been gracing the grindstone.
April was a bustle of gearing up and preparing for the Halifax Crafter's Spring Fair which happened over the weekend of May 4th and 5th. What a great event. I'm pretty terrible at remembering to snap pictures of things while they're in swing, but fortunately other people are on it...! Pop on over the the Mule Mother Books blog to see some snapshots of the event, and perhaps get lost in the makings and musings of artist extraordinaire Ellen Murphy. Her books are so beautiful and well-made. It's always such a pleasure to see her work all spread out and on display. I find myself drawn to touch and smell it all... this is a sure sign for me. She's got it goin' on.
I am thrilled that the new Harness Collection, which I was showing for the first time, received a very warm welcome! Consequently, I am up to my neck filling orders and pulling together packages to send off to shops. This is good, in that full kinda way...
Also, some exciting commissions are a'brew! My design senses are active, which is a nice balance after the production push that always preceeds a show. Summer is surely around the corner somewhere, and with summer comes weddings, and with weddings often come rings...! It is always a pleasure to make pieces that hold that certain type of significance to people. Lighter's up for Love!
Lack of Knitting
I just moved and am starting school so I do not have a knitting project on the go. It feels so strange to not have something to knit. I just sorted out my yarn and supplies into the attic rec room so hopefully I can start something tonight.
I received an email from the Halifax crafters about applying for a spot for their Christmas fair. They are offering newbie tables for people who are just starting out. I'm going to go through all the stuff I have to sell and pick some for the application. I'm really hope to get a spot. The table is only a four foot table so I don't have to feel like I need a tonne of stuff to fill a full long table.
