FEEL THE FUCKING THUNDER.
The first quarter of the game was a shitshow - energy was deeply weird and the Firewolves seemed to be constantly looking for reasons to throw down. But it got a lot better by the second quarter when the Thunderbirds seemed to start gelling again after whatever had gotten their knickers in a twist.
I really, really need to find a clip of the ridiculous reverse-clown-car pileup in Hill's net, so I can send it to my kid who didn't get to go to this game by virtue of being in another stupid city for school. But that was hands-down one of the most ludicrous things I've seen in a lacrosse game, and I want to watch it a bunch of times in slo-mo.
Also, the Firewolves pulling their goalie in the last five minutes, only to let us score three goddamn times on an empty net. Never pull the goalie when Terefenko is on the floor. (And Armstrong, for number two, and then Tyson-motherfucking-Bell for number three. I can't even.)
11-2 for Halifax. What a brilliant way to begin the season. The next one we get to go to is Dec 27, when we drag @becausedragonage and co. to their first game. Hopefully it's as much fun as tonight!

Here's the highlight reel from last night's quarter final game where we kicked the shit out of Calgary.
My favourite goal of the night is at 0:50 - Hoggarth (#91) has the ball and he faceplants into the crease - watch #20 (Robinson) as he comes around on the right, scoops it up, ducks behind the net, and neatly deposits the ball right behind the goalie's back. (Followed by a replay from a better angle immediately afterward.)
I've fallen in love with this stupid game.
Give it up for your Halifax THUNDERBIIIIIIIIRDS.

Went to my first lacrosse game last night, and it was amazing! Super fast paced, and fireworks along with a good ol’ maritime classic played every time we scored. The game was close but we managed to pull out the win!
