Whenever Halim Adaar smiles and angel gets their wings and everyone feels better because he is @maybethings‘ wonderful Qunari Inquisitor who deserves all of the hugs
When she saw him, blue finery, his hair so well-cared for and his hands gently holding the white flower he intended to give to Cass, Frieda could not hold the tears back any longer.
“You are a prince, Halimlein.”
Halim offered her a handkerchief and gave her an embarrassed smile,
“I am not. I’m the Inquisitor.”
“You are always a prince to me.”, the bard smiled, drying the wet spots under her eyes, “Especially when you and Lady Cassandra are together.”
Frieda liked when Halim blushed. For as tall as he was, he had never seemed intimidating to her. She liked him and how he made Lady Cassandra smile, how the world seemed to move just a bit slower when he was there and people felt safe.
Clearing his throat, the Qunari straightened his back, let Frieda adjust his finery and turned to watch himself in the mirror. The finery was already a tight fit but watching his reflection felt like watching a portrait some Orlesian noble had commissioned.
“...why did you pick this out for me?”
“It emphasizes certain features?”
“I do not think I need them emphasized this much.”
Frieda sighed and handed him his grey tunic back, despite her visible dislike for it. With a warm smile, Halim pulled her into a short hug, careful not to hold to her too tight.
“I just thought I would give you some support when you are off to...you know...asking the question, maybe.”
Placing a friendly kiss on her forehead before pulling back, Halim smiled.
“It helps that you think of me but I think it is better when I go there as myself and not dressed up like a prince.”
He still felt the anxiety in his chest but he was aware that this was the way of things, that falling in love also meant being afraid and that, when all went well, fear would still be there but overshadowed by happiness.
Frieda smiled and made her way through the door, leaving him the privacy of changing,
“You still look like a prince to me.”
