These are my favourites so far:

Harold & Maude (1971)

This movie blew me away. I'd heard good things so I thought I'd enjoy it, but I wasn't expecting much in terms of the feels... wow, was I wrong. The humanity behind the story is so wonderful. It's silly and lovely and heartfelt and dark and I need everyone to watch it.

Bring Her Back (2025)

Incredible horror. The effects are so brutal but are never shallow or for 'shock value'. The story is heavy and so upsetting, I had to pause and take a minute because it hits so hard, but it's a fantastic story about grief, child exploitation, abuse and the battles that come with it. Lots of tw so be prepared.

Hallow Road (2025)

I went into this one blind, and I'm glad I did. The hours afterwards reading theories and personal takes really made this film great for me. It's basically an intense car trip, with many twists and turns on the way. If you like horror films that are open for interpretation you'll enjoy this.

I Saw The TV Glow (2024)

So so much of this movie felt deeply personal, especially the main characters finding so much joy in a tv show (I know, right). For anyone that gets lost in fandom (yeah, you too), this movie will have meaning to you. It's about the importance of finding yourself, and others to share it with, too. Along with the dangers of hiding parts of yourself. Written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun, a trans non-binary filmmaker. Go watch it.

Withnail & I (1987)

So silly, so brilliant, so enjoyable. Devastating with such a melancholy atmosphere right the way through. It's charming, and awful, and I loved it.

The House That Dripped Blood (1971)

A review online says it better than I could: "Three of the episodes are rough-and-ready but vigorous Grand Guignol fun." Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and John Pertwee (WHILST he was the third Doctor, btw). It's so fun.
