The IDF and Shin Bet say they recently targeted Hamas terrorists in a command and control center beneath the European Hospital in Gaza.
They add that prior to and during the attack, steps were taken to reduce the chance of harming civilians.
This was a highly unusual attack.
Israel just carried out a significant assassination attempt in Gaza.
Information so far suggests a very senior official was targeted
Israel has just carried out an assassination attempt on Mohammed Sinwar, Yahya's brother, according to Israeli reports.
The scene of the attack.
Line 37 will be delayed until further notice.
The security establishment says they checked beforehand to make sure there were no hostages around him. It is not yet clear whether he was eliminated. His brother, Yahya, was successfully eliminated 7 months ago.
Muhammad Sinwar - The End?
Cautious optimism in Israel.

How does a "freedom fighter" in blockaded Gaza get a Belgian assault rifle with a grenade launcher? Serious question. The people marching in your streets call them freedom fighters. Resistance fighters. They say the blockade is collective punishment. They say it's a humanitarian crisis. They want it lifted. Then please explain the photo. This is Bakr al-Majaydah. October 7th terrorist. He drove the tractor that breached the fence that day. Opened the path for the massacre. IDF got him. Look what he's holding. FN F2000. Belgian made. Military grade. That tube underneath is a grenade launcher. Not some rusted AK from the 1980s. A $5,000 piece of military hardware. In blockaded Gaza. These rifles came from Libya. FN Herstal sold 367 of them to Qaddafi in 2009. When his regime fell in 2011, weapons depots got looted. By 2012 these F2000s were showing up in Gaza. An arms dealer in Misrata told researchers he personally shipped them there as gifts to show solidarity against Israel. Smuggled through tunnels. This is what the blockade is trying to stop. Not food. Not medicine. Belgian assault rifles with grenade launchers. Rockets. Explosives. Everything Hamas needs to murder more Israelis. Look at what he's wearing. Jeans. Green button-down. No uniform. Nothing that says combatant. He looks like he's meeting friends for coffee. Hamas doesn't do uniforms. They dress as civilians, hide among civilians, operate among civilians. When Israel responds and civilians die, the world asks why Israel can't tell the difference. This is the difference. There isn't one you can see. Only what they do separates them. And by the time you know what they do, Israelis are dead. Urban warfare against Hamas means fighting terrorists in street clothes with smuggled weapons hiding in apartment buildings. The IDF clears them building by building, room by room, while Hamas uses civilians as shields and the world counts bodies on TV. The same people calling this guy a freedom fighter say Israel targets civilians. They say the IDF bombs indiscriminately. They ignore that Hamas fights in civilian clothes from civilian buildings using civilians as cover. Bakr al-Majaydah helped slaughter 1,200 people on October 7th. The IDF hunted him and eliminated him. They're doing the same to every other terrorist from that day. However long it takes. That's not revenge. That's what happens when you massacre 1,200 people. Next time someone lectures you about the blockade, show them this. Ask them how this terrorist got a Belgian rifle with a grenade launcher in blockaded Gaza. Ask them what else gets smuggled through those tunnels. Ask them how many more weapons they want in Hamas' hands. They won't have an answer. The answer destroys everything they say about the blockade, about resistance, about freedom fighters. This is what resistance looks like. Terrorists in jeans with smuggled rifles using civilians as shields while planning the next massacre. Believe what you see.
What these hostages have gone through is absolutely horrific 😭😭😭
And what those who are still being held hostage by cowards , are still going through !!!😭😭😭

News of Al Jazeera "journalist" Anas Al-Sharif's death in a targeted Israeli strike prompted a wave of mournful mainstream media coverage. CNN's Brian Stelter led his "Reliable Sources" newsletter with the story on Monday—subject line "Al Jazeera in mourning"—quoting a colleague who described Al-Sharif as "a household name for many in the Arabic-speaking world" who had documented "the horrors that we are seeing in the Gaza Strip."
Declassified Israeli intelligence, however, shows that Hamas terrorists in the strip knew Al-Sharif for different reasons. Documents discovered by the IDF in Gaza identify Al-Sharif as a leader in a Hamas rocket-launching squad and member of the Nukhba forces, the commando unit behind the Oct. 7 massacre. Stelter referenced the documents before noting that Al Jazeera, which is financed by the Qatari government, "strongly denies the claim."
Months before his death, Al-Sharif's name surfaced in a lawsuit from American victims of Oct. 7 alleging that Al Jazeera provides "substantial assistance" to Hamas. The suit quotes messages Al-Sharif posted to Telegram lauding the Oct. 7 attack as it unfolded.
"9 hours later and the heroes are still roaming the country, killing and capturing… God, God, how great you are," he wrote in one message, hours after Hamas terrorists slaughtered more than 1,000 Jews and took dozens of civilians hostage. "It is a jihad, a jihad of victory and martyrdom," he said in another. "Allahu akbar and thank God."
Al-Sharif went on to post photos of dead Israeli soldiers being stepped on; one included the caption, "The army wants to exterminate people under their rugs 😉🔥" Before the attack, Sharif posted photos of himself smiling alongside Hamas leaders, including slain Oct. 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar.
