I started digging into the Hamilton Commission full report and have some initial takeaways:
It's very well organized and easy to read and digest
It has lots of case studies and clear examples
I particularly appreciated the breakdown of which teams currently have diversity and inclusion initiatives, and what those look like right now.
I do feel as though the majority of the recommendations are too vague to be clearly actionable - calls for support for policy changes without explicitly pointing to which policies/programs/etc, or clarifying who should take on these tasks
That said, recommendation 1 - that Formula 1 create a cost cap exemption for apprentice workers/interns, that they actively recruit these students from minority backgrounds, and that they provide support funds to offset the limitations of geographic access - is clear, immediate, and actionable.
I also appreciate that throughout the report they call out "Immediate Opportunities" for F1 teams to respond to the recommendations, including reviewing the language of job postings, ensuring marketing material is appropriately diverse, and making employment demographic data across sectors available to the public.
Overall it's a mixed bag in the way many of these things are, but I feel like there are a few clear paths of action being presented and hope to see teams, and Formula 1 overall, respond proactively
