I'm a little late to announce the #Hamsterofthemonth winners but here they are. #Jack and #Ribbit had a close vote that was only split by 3 votes in Jack's favour. To be fair as our oldest hammo in house she does totally deserve it. She's a very good girl and has even put up with my lack of breakfasts the past few mornings. Naughty hamster was unsurprisingly a steal by #Ribbit who swept the category. Something about a runaway hammo I think everyone can relate to 😂 Ribbit is now in a bin and we have curbed his escapes haha. Thanks for voting and we will catch you again next month. It may be near the end of June but it's not the end end! So here we are with out June #Hamsterofthemonth nice candidates! These were jointly picked by @hamdad_sbh and @cloey_hearts_critters 😂 First up is #Ru for being a little puppy dog. She comes when called and always politely wants to be part of the action. She's such a sweetie and even obliges some cuddles after momma Elvis passed. Next is #Whiskyjack. Of all our hamsters during the move I expected to lose her. She did come close until she was magically revived with cheesecake 😂🤦‍♀️ but Hamdad is soooo glad to have her back. The results are in! #Badonkadonk and #Whiskyjack are our May #Hamsterofthemonth winners. Donk has been an exceptional momma and I am so so proud of her. She is retired after this litter and will be journeying out to our friends at @wildrosehamsters. I'm going to miss her, but I know she will be so super spoiled. Jack Jack has been such a naughty lady and this photo makes me laugh so much. You can see her eating cheesecake at @caits.hamjam.fam's when she was doing a much very big die. Little stinker. We put her on meloxicam last week too and Cait says she's been like a totally different hamster. Hurray! We will catch you guys in June for our next HOTM voting. By then all the fuzzies should be moved into our new home so we should have plenty of candidates. 🥰💗 That being said after this move, I think all our Hammos are the nicest - I'm so immensely proud of hams like Lincoln, Elvis, Badonkadonk, Ribbit, Ace, Zyggy, Ru and Marvel who have gone through multiple moves during all this. Our naughty candidates this month for #Hamsterofthemonth are... Drum roll... #Whiskyjack vs Whiskyjack! 🙈😂 A couple weeks ago @caits.hamjam.fam messaged me that one of the hammos smelled fishy. I have had this before when they've had a UTI so once we figured out it was Jack Jack we got her onto antibiotics so she could start feeling better. Last Monday I visited her as the smell was still present. I gave her a good once over, palpated her belly and gave her lots of kisses. She was totally fine and did a toodle around Cait's bed and then climbed on all her stuff in her enclosure. I got a panicked call from Cait a few hours later that Jack wasn't doing well. She was limp and while she was breathing, she was barely moving. It sounded bad, and I think at that point we were both sure Jack was dying. I was stunned - how had this previously active little buddy (she was climbing on things!) gone downhill so fast? 🥺 Cait cared for her that night and I suggested she give her some cheesecake. When a hamster is dying most of the time they will refuse snacks. Cheesecake is one of those irresistible snacks I find though so if you have it on hand, offer some. So Cait did... And the photo she sent made me chuckle (I'll use it for when she wins of course). At this point I realised Jack was likely just exhausted from her busy day and was tuckered out. She was feeling more herself the following morning and last night I visited, tested her urine (all clear!) and she seems to be doing well. She even went for a toodle on her wheel. So, Jack Jack I suppose faked dying for cheesecake. 🤦‍♀️ Big thanks to Cait for all she's done to help Jackums feel better. I'm glad you have magic cheesecake too. Didn't get a chance to post these but our winners of March #Hamsterofthemonth are #Truffle and #Ribbit! Both very well deserved. Truffle is such a great momma and is now living it up with her pups at @caits.hamjam.fam. Ribbit is causing chaos and panic of course by sleeping like he's dead. Silly goose. Ribbit has been pretending to be dead by sleeping out in the open. It's very rude for Hammy Godmother. Breton is a sass bucket who wants all the cookies.
