@theworldisabrokenbonebutitishome you also mentioned being curious about the Mo Sanmei/Han Chen WIP. So I'm just going to tell you about that too. I love talking about my WIPs, so I'll take any excuse.
I love this idea, but I'm finding it kind of difficult to write. They're both challenging characters to get a good grasp on.
The story itself takes place when Han Chen has woken up from his coma and has recently gone back to work. So he's still in a period where he's somewhat unsure about himself and a lot of other stuff. For reasons, he's sent to work away elsewhere. Obviously so I could stick him close to San-ge, but I figure it makes sense in universe too. Like there was a whole mess before he fell into a coma, and maybe the higher ups are unsure about him and also maybe it's a way of protecting him. The fic doesn't go into it that much, but it makes some kind of sense.
Conveniently it also removes Han Chen from things he's come to find familiar, and he hasn't been back to work for long. So I have more justification to have him a bit less self assured than he is in canon!
So, over to San-ge, and this is where things get a touch silly. Things are post movie. Xiaowen forgets her homework at school and it needs to be done the next day, so San-ge being a good dad decides he needs to solve this issue for her (maybe she cried). So they break into the school to get her homework (As you do. This part is based on a vaguely remembered incident in my own childhood). Anyway at some point, they trip some kind of alarm and Han Chen happens to be close and is the one who comes check it out. Like it's not normally the kind of thing he'd be doing since he's a detective or something (maybe?) but he's close so he might as well.
Han Chen finds them. There's a confrontation. Words are said. Xiaowen might cry. Anyway, in the end Han Chen sort of goes against his best judgement and let's them go. They honestly didn't do anything, and well, Xiaowen is crying about how she doesn't want to be abandoned when her dad goes to jail or something.
However, having let them go, Han Chen now feels rather responsible. You know, if San-ge does anything else stupid, it's his fault for not arresting him. So, he keeps visiting them to make sure things are okay. And ends up getting caught up in their family life somehow and... uh... Somehow romance happens. But yeah, I need to actually write romance happening. There's also probably something about the amnesia and stuff, but more about Han Chen coming to terms with that, than any resolution to the amnesia plot.
