So I was dumb and wrote my next post on my phone, and just as I finished the last line I accidentally ended all my apps so poof that draft disappeared into the void, lost forever damn my clumsy thumbs.
How much of that should I rewrite hmm
I was telling you guys about the time I spent at a nearby Early Years Education Centre which is a fancier name for a daycare really. Last week was my second and last day there (it was so short but so long) and I remember being really nervous about it at first, especiay the few days before my first time there, but you know, I’m glad I convinced myself to go because it was fun.
There was a little girl there who, when I first walked in and said hello, took one look at me and ran to the opposite side of the room. I was so worried I had spooked her, and that she was going to avoid me all day, but then she brought over a ball to me and basically asked me to play with her. I was so touched! I didn’t think any of the kids would remember me but I think some of them might have, and I know she definitely did, because the first day I was there, she spent 80% of that time staring at me and keeping her distance so she definitely did. At least, I think she did. Anyway, this adorable, sweet, lovely girl played with me, sat on me, asked me to read to her, and pointed out birds to me. I was so happy.
At some point, another girl with lovely wavy hair wiped her snot on the sleeve of my sweater but she too was adorable and very young so i forgave her.
And you know, it felt like a once in a lifetime experience, because near the end of the session, a kookaburra came to visit! It landed on a tree nearby and started making noise, and it was! So! Amazing to see the way every little head in that area turn towards the noise. All these little people rushing towards the tree, chattering and pointing and being excited because it was a kookaburra! Look at it! Did you hear that? Isn’t that amazing? How wonderful the world looks when you’re young, a rookie starting out on their big adventure.
Anyway, I wanted to share that with you guys because I think you both know how terrified I am of tiny children, and I think that attachment helped me deal with that fear, at least a little. So I’m glad. I’m gonna miss those kids.
