Day 25: The Tower of Babel.
Despite the onslaught, the bulk of Desert City #3 still stood to some extent, although it took a few days for the dust to settle enough to view anything other than the spire, even from a few miles away.
The once robust defense walls were crumbling – major openings and collapses riddled the perimeter – and despite the strong foundations that remained, the majority of structures were utterly devastated.
A dark haze hung in the air, slowly beginning to settle back into the desert, pancaking into stack that towered above. No sign of the massive ship remained, but a small wisp formed a tether that extended into the sky beyond the reach of our gaze.
There were no signs of activity; no signs of life; and then a light appeared coming from the peak of one of the last remaining steeples.
