We meet this wonderful creation of Ronan's when Declan starts his days at the Barns by waking up screaming in terror, as one does.

We learn the size of hand-cat right away so there's no confusion about what a sweet little kitty this is.

So, if a white-tailed deer can average 2-4 feet tall at the shoulder, and weigh 80-140 pounds... it's just a wee kitty obviously!

We learn immediately how intelligent, crafty, and resilient the hand-cat is. Who wouldn't love a pet who is so determined, stealthy, and wondrous!

Just look at hand-cat, totally loving and affectionate, who just wants cared for with the same tender love and adoration. It wants to snuggle in bed with Declan, I mean, is that a crime?! And possibly kiss his face because it's trying to uncover his head. How adorable!

Hand-cat even leaves a present for the object of its affection!

Finally, hand-cat is articulate and who hasn't wanted a pet who could possibly speak to them! And it likes animal crackers!

SPOILERS! From Greywaren, I know in my heart of hearts that although not named, hand-cat was there, squashing Declan by crawling into his lap and sobbing with him because it loves him and shares his pain.
