I enjoyed it! The title didn't shy away Catman's bisexuality, the artwork was moody and atmospheric (+very attractive Catman), and it was sufficiently weird.

There's definitely also a whole conversation about how a character can be bi, but years/decades of writers can go on never acknowledging it.

I spent this morning thinking about this in regards to race and the Big Hero Six debacle (mixed race characters in comics tend to be drawn and coded whiter and whiter as time goes on) but it's true with sexuality too. There's lots of reasons writers don't write a character with a sexuality they've already been confirmed with (they aren't familiar with their history, bigotry, disliking that aspect of the character and wanting to ignore/change it) which on a larger scale is one of the big problems comics has. Thanks to the nature of how comics are written and how they're used in a company they can go through several evolutions and become completely different characters. And sometimes that works. Sometimes characters are better having changed, and characters are allowed to have alternate sexualities confirmed (see: David Alleyne) but at the same time characters like Bling are no longer bisexual but referred to as exclusively lesbian. I do think in the case of the Constantine television show and in other cases where characters' bisexuality is downplayed it's 99% of the time the writer is nervous, scared, or uninterested in writing non-heterosexual characters which is not remotely an excuse.

Hey Sarah! I just finished Davies' run on Doctor Who (I'm ruined emotionally, so there's that). I asked a while ago about Moffat's run (and have little interest in watching it based on the commentary I've gathered) and you mentioned you did have a few episodes to recommend! May I ask what they are? :]

Anyway, I’d say to watch:

SEASON 5:*The Eleventh Hour (11’s first ep—a good taste of Matt Smith, whom I maintain would've been a great Doctor sans Moffaty meddling)The Time of the Angels/Flesh and Stone (spooky two-part ep)*Vincent and the Doctor (this is the episode you’ve doubtlessly seen giffed all over Tumblr)SEASON 6:The Impossible Astronaut/The Day of the Moon (the Silence are good baddies—reminiscent of the Gentlemen from the Buffy ep “Hush”)*The Doctor’s Wife (Neil Gaiman penned this, and it’s a bit jump-the-shark-ish but so charming)…I honestly think that might be it. The starred ones aren't super plot-heavy and would be the easiest just to watch when you have an hour to spare. If you are curious about how either season’s arc ends up, you can watch either season finale (“The Pandorica Opens”/”Big Bang Pt 2” from 5 and “The Wedding of River Song” for 6). They’ll both be confusing, but hey, they don’t make that much sense when you watch the whole season either.
