Indelible Marks by billtheradish. Slow burn! Everybody lives! Derek's huge stupid family! Tattoos! Family trees! Family secrets! I have no idea how I have not seen it before now, except that perhaps I usually filter out incomplete works when I go through the Derek/Stiles tag and it was only completed in October? It took the author like two years to complete and is actually over 275,000 words long, I really feel this author.
So far it is excellent and I didn't actually manage to put it down until my tablet battery died forty minutes after I posted my despair at having discovered this fic/not having discovered this fic earlier. I still have over 70% of the fic to go, and as an unexpected side-benefit I think I have the scripts for my tattoo narrowed down to under thirty...?
Have you heard Cecilia and the Satellite yet? It's Andrew McMahon (from jack's mannequin)'s new song and I have all these play crack the sky feels about it. (also just generally a rad song)

I love Everything in Transit so much. Like. I love it like I would love a person. That album is a dear friend to me. And then his second Jack's Mannequin album was not anywhere near as good and I was like I LOVE YOU ANDREW MCMAHON BUT I NEED TO LET EVERYTHING IN TRANSIT LIVE IN A VACUUM SRY. So I haven't really listened to anything he's done since because I am a garbage truck.
But now I regret that because I love the sound of this song so much. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MY LOVELY FRIEND. <33

Okay so immediately after it happened the fire alarm started going off so I forgot, but - I was about to eat the cookie, because fuck it, it's a cookie, it's probably still delicious, but as I was reaching for it, a bird flew into our office window.
Like. THUNK.
This isn't a completely uncommon occurrence, and it's happened before or anything, but you have to admit the timing was eerie.
Also, as mentioned above, then the fire alarm went off.
...
For the moment I have put the cookie back in the box.
