Yuko Mizuno and Jack: The Japanese Hilary Duff and Lola for The Sims 2 Pets DS in Japan
I only stumbled upon it recently that Hilary Duff is not the only real person to appear in the Japanese version of The Sims 2 Pets DS.
Instead she appears like she usually does (day 3). Though on day 10 (or something idk, i lost count) you will ALSO get visited by the Japanese athlete, actress and entertainer: Yuko Mizuno. Since the PS2/Wii version never released in Japan that means the Japanese localization didn't have Yuko with a console appearance. Only the Handheld version received this change. I do not know if the PSP version has Yuko too but i doubt it.
Yuko appears with her dog Jack who doesn't have a lot of info online. There's literally NO mention about this anywhere.
Also note: Hilary Duff was not advertised in Japan. The advertising put more emphasis on Yuko. It's also notable that every NPC name is written in Katakana meanwhile Yukos name was written in Kanji. Mainly because her name IS Japanese so... She's the only one to have Kanji letters for her name in this game.
This is how Jack looks like. Although i could not find out a lot about him. Not even a mention. Jack was Yukos dog according to an interview she took for the game.
Jack also had a few official wallpapers:
Hi! So I recently discovered sim2team (check them out! they have a sims 2 gba save editor) and their s2gbatool, which provides a complete list of all the text (used or unused) in the Sims 2 for GBA.
The Sims 2 for GBA a LOT of unused text, so I went through it and decided to compile as much as I could here.
here's also a complete list of all the text in the game. if you get one from s2gbatool yourself, it won't be in order. so this is a text document with all of them ordered.
TS3 came out at a really interesting time where handheld/mobile gaming had more prevalence, but the difference between what a PC could do and what a handheld console or a phone could do had a much wider gap than they do today
which lead to developers trying to adapt one of the most encompassing life simulation games ever made into some of the least powerful systems ever made lol
this is the Java/Blackberry version of TS3, but there were actually multiple versions of the Java/Blackberry version as there was a separate game for World Adventures, Ambitions, Supernatural, and "Winter Edition"
