Mistigram: this very crowded #ANSIart logo (which I believe does contain all of the letters, overlapping), was drawn by Handiboy for the Mistigris music HQ Atomique BBS, demonstrating its green-and-white colour scheme. It was included in the MIST0897 artpack collection released 26 years ago this month.
Mistigram: the Blender improvised computer art competition, where competitors hustle to come up with ways to "blend" three spontaneously assigned topics, is coming up again this weekend. We also played this game in the '90s -- here is an #ANSIart specimen by Handiboy from the thirty-third Blender in 1997, incorporating the topics of "THE POPE / SWIMMING / IN A POND". Mistigram: we don’t practice our folly the same way every April - in 1997 we observed by continuing with our grandest and most foolish undertaking, the Mistigris World Tour… having our entire crew pack their virtual bags and exhibit in other groups’ packs en masse. This #ANSIart logo for Ranma’s Alpha Design was drawn as part of a logocolly by Handiboy (now @bryfacetron) and included in Fire Graphics’ FIRE0497 artpack collection.
Mistigram: this suitably eggy #ANSIart logo for the 2nd issue of Quip's e-mag (electronic magazine) "Omlette" was drawn by, well, he was still going as Handiboy at this point (a deep cut for the In Living Color fans in the house). It was included in the Mistigris World Tour stop with Fistful of Steel 26 years ago this month, and was released in the FOS-0197 artpack collection.

Today we're taking a brief break from our endless promenade of historical "Mist" logos in the interest of topicality, to celebrate both the American holiday of July 1st and the recent release of the seemingly unnecessary sequel to Roland Emmerich's 1996 blockbuster movie Independence Day (ID4). (And how did he manage to anticipate the onslaught of ☺️ emoji awaiting us?) Handiboy (who's undergone a few name changes in the meantime) submitted this curious mixed ANSI/ASCII piece to MIST2YR1, our 2-year anniversary artpack collection which must have come out sometime near October of 1996 -- the artpack that I believe may have been his first releases anywhere in the scene!
It's sure not advertising any BBSes, a failure considered considered anathema when I joined up to NWA in 1993, but by 1996 (perhaps thanks to boundary-pushing efforts by the merry Mist crew and others like us) we were more than happy to feature interesting computer art regardless of whether it shilled for anybody or not. Handiboy of course went on to further heights of success in both textmode and music creations, but the time will come to continue blogging about those 8)
