#HandmadeAtHome . I was getting annoyed with the fact that our electric toothbrush heads were just lying on the sink shelf, so the hubby made them a very simple but very cute little stand. It's from a piece of branch from our cherry tree, with drainage holes sealed off by a piece of knapped beer bottle bottom to protect the wood of the shelf. So far it's working wonders! . Another handcrafted gift this year was a request I had made to my dad, who's a carver and sculptor. . I had this lovely Venus wax melt from @ashwoodcandles but unfortunately didn't have a tray big enough to melt her on, so I'd asked Dad if he could make me one. This one's just the first prototype to check size etc. . I meant to keep an eye on it and fish her out when it started to look like it would overflow, but alas I got carried away making Christmas lunch so there was a bit of a wax flood... A quick #SundayFunday post today to share our latest kitchen creation. . Remember that little pot with the broken handle? Well, one of our pot lid handles also broke, so of course we had to Stone-Age-Monkey-fy it! . I love the texture and colours created by this piece of wood - it almost looks rotten. The plastic handle on one of our pot lids broke last week. We lasted for a few days before getting frustrated, at which point our resident woodcarver took matters into his own hands and carved a new one. It works surprisingly well! Remember back a few weeks when I had my hat-making craze? In the background of one photo you could see a second attempt at a more subtle witches hat. I stopped with it because I wasn’t sure how to make the point at the back, but I think I’ve worked out a way now so I’m back to it. . There is something so satisfying about needle-felting, and I love how simple the concept is. For those unfamiliar with it - the needle has special breaks in the side which allows it to grab and connect the fibres with each pass. So you’re basically just stabbing, but gently and very quietly! . Well to those of you who guessed "hat" for my latest creation - you were correct! But the extra point could only be given to those who correctly guessed that it would become a witches hat! 🧙 . As to so many of my crafting projects, the answer to "but... Why?" is that I saw one for sale somewhere and decided to try and make my own. I wasn't very happy with the colour, so decided to add some darker wool to the surface. I'm also planning to add some decoration so I'll share that once it's done! . I originally started Monday posts as #MotivationMonday but I think I might occasionally intersperse that now with #MakingMonday to share our crafting projects with you. .
