The Defeat of the Amalekites
11 It happened, when Moshe held up his hand, that Yisra'el prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moshe' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aharon and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until sunset. 13 Yehoshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. — Exodus 17:11-13 | Hebrew Names Version (HNV) The Hebrew Names Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Exodus 17:10; Exodus 17:14; Exodus 24:14; Joshua 8:26; Isaiah 35:3; Luke 21:24

My spirit is dancing
“Inside, my spirit is dancing. I sit on my hands. I keep my mouth shut. But the music courses through my veins. It reverberates through my soul. “Why do I sit here and look so dead? Why do I keep the feeling bottled up inside. “Inside, my spirit is dancing, wanting to break out and change the world.” I wrote those words some 30 years ago in some unknown place — a church worship service. PSALMS S.O.A.P. ~ PSALM 141
Thursday, 2/1/24
SCRIPTURE:
May my prayer be set before You as incense, the raising of my hands as the evening offering. ~ Psalm 141:2
OBSERVATION:
Fearing a "rabbit hole" here, but diving in nonetheless... and let me know if I go off the rails here...
Incense - Concentrated fragrance, biotic aromatics that release fragrant smoke when burnt, the material or the aroma...
...to be burnt means to be on fire...
Aroma - distinctive, typically pleasant smell, subtle, pervasive quality...
My prayers then should be
"lit" - on fire - but a slow-burning, continuous one...
concentrated...
spread and spreading throughout every part of my life...
focused on Him...
He finds them pleasing in this way...
APPLICATION:
Be continuously on fire for Him...
Be a pleasing aroma for Him...
...and others around me...
Raise my hands (a tough one given my Presbyterian upbringing 😋)
PRAYER: (Praying verses 3 and 4 as well)
Father God, May my prayer be set before You as incense, the raising of my hands as the evening offering. Lord, set up a guard for my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. Do not let my heart turn to any evil thing or perform wicked acts with evildoers. Do not let me feast on their delicacies. In Jesus Name, Father, and for Your worshipful, hand-raising glory...
On fire with hands high...
