Following on from my last post on the National Demo For #Palestine in London on Saturday (22nd May) … For me, and everyone I spoke with, it was not about anti Judaism, Jewish people or Israel per se, i.e. not antisemitic and I’m not using the Z-word on purpose, but very much anti the right wing government of Israel and their IDF committing human rights abuses on a daily basis, not just when tensions result in rocket fire. In this most recent bout of well-publicised violence, according to the latest official information from Palestinian and Israeli sources via @middleeasteye, at least 274 people were been killed between 7 and 21 May, including at least 71 children and 41 women. The vast majority were Palestinian: Israeli air strikes on the besieged #GazaStrip killed at least 243 Palestinians, while a further 29 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Another 2 Palestinian citizens of Israel have been reported killed by Israeli fire. In Israel, 12 people have been reported killed by rockets launched from Gaza by Hamas, among them 2 children, 2 Palestinian citizens of Israel, and 2 Thai citizens. 1 person was also killed by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon during a protest in solidarity with Palestinians. This can’t happen again. This all needs to stop. #FreePalestine #SaveGaza #SaveSheikhJarrah #HandsOffAlAqsa #FreedomForPalestine 🇵🇸✊💛 (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPQWa0Vhpmd/?utm_medium=tumblr
