93. handwich
sorry we got a couple weird ones in a row, merry christmas i guess??
i cannot talk about handwiches without heartily recommending the Defunctland video on the topic. Mr. Perjurer explains the history and weird circumstances around the handwich far better than i ever could.
if you skimmed over that you actually have to go back and watch the whole thing. required viewing, sorry.
now that you're back, i made my handwich with chicken salad, because that's the one that made the most sense for the bread style. i made my molds with construction paper and tinfoil, sliced my dough into thin strips (i'm gonna be perfectly honest with yall i just used premade pizza dough i did not make my own dough for this) and wrapped it around the cones.
i made a couple, and they actually turned out really nice! one broke apart as i took it off the cone, but the ones that held together actually were stable and strong enough to hold filling.
it's a fun gimmick. it doesn't make for a good sandwich. the fillings to bread ratio changes with literally every bite. the last bit was pretty much just croissant, which was fine by me. i think of all the original offerings by disney, barbecue chicken would have been the best and seafood salad would have been the absolute worst.
