HanJan Oliver (feat. my fav Korean alcoholic beverage)
As promised, here is the post that features part 2 of the Christmas get-together with Tina & Andrew. We went for more food & drinks at HanJan Oliver.
First off, we got the fish cake soup. The pot looks big but 7 skewers of fish cakes. .. with several pieces of rice cake in it. This comes with a bowl of rice, which Tina ate a little bit of. I’ve never tried fish cake soup from here. For myself, I thought it was kinda bland. I like my fish cake soups to have a bit of pepper in it. But I liked it nonetheless. It’s like a comfort dish that takes me back to Korea =‘]
On the side is the usual banchan that is served at HanJan (both locations): kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled radish, & potato salad.
The honey butter bread that Tina wanted to try. I have also not had this before. It’s one of their signature items & wowwwww it was so dry & unappetizing. I didn’t eat much of this bcos the bread was. .. yeah.. you really need the whipped cream with it. Normally this came with cinnamon powder sprinkle on top but we asked to have it without due to my allergy. Wouldn’t have made a difference anyway. Super disappointed in this!
THE BEST PART.
Yogurt soju <3
Yogurt soju was 1st introduced to me by Tina when we went to San Fran 10 yrs ago. We went to this late-night Korean place called Cocobang, which is still open today! Tried yogurt soju there & it was so good! So we ordered it for. .. Cocobang’s sake haha the individual glass on the side that looks the same as the yogurt soju is Andrew’s mandarin yakult. The server told us it was made in house. Tried a little bit of it. Although I like yakult, this was really meh.. . the mandarin flavour wasn’t strong.
