you hum in agreement, a smile gracing your features as you watch hange fondly. 

“so those atoms became people, and they are drawn together time and time again because they can sense the closeness of their atoms all those ages ago.”

you laugh softly, leaning forward to bump your forehead against theirs gently. “so, soulmates?”

“soulmates,” hange agrees with a lovestruck grin. when they lean forward to kiss you, you can feel their smile still on your lips.

Hange pushed the plate into the sink, a loud slam echoing through your ears.

“baby, i know you’re exhausted, but could you please stop slamming things?” you placed your plate in the sink, turning on the warm water. “i didn’t slam anything.” they muttered, walking into the bathroom. “yes you did. i’m not going to ask you again, you’re not a child.” you replied, the warm water slowly burning your hands.

this week had been tense. eren was running everyone’s patience and your home had been ruined. you couldn’t turn a corner without more news about eren. everyone was on alert. you had lost so many of your friends, and being a nurse, putting your friends in a body bag was the last thing you wanted to see.

“can’t breathe around here.” you heard hange mumble. you set down the plate, drying your hands as you walk into the bathroom, leaning into the door frame. they had their jacket shrugged off, leaving them in their tank top. “i’m sorry, if there’s an issue, i’d like for you to tell me about it instead of mumbling away. it’s childish.” you cross your arms.

“i wasn’t mumbling if you could hear it.” hange huffed, taking the hairstyle out. their short hair fell around their face, messy and tangled. “please do not start with me.” you stared at them. “i don’t know what your issue is. i didnt slam anything, i didnt do anything. i don’t know why you’re trying to start something.” they leaned against the counter, staring down at you.

“you barely ate dinner today. you come home late as hell, you don’t even sleep in the bed anymore. you’d rather be in the office and sleep there, you barely even touch me. you don’t talk to me anymore. its a rough time for everyone, but you can’t just take it out on me. that’s what i’m here for, i’m here for you, hange.” you soften your voice, tears threatening to spill from your eyes.

“i’m sorry i don’t want to be suffocated all the time. i hear enough about people dying, i dont need you to tell me each and every person we lost. do you think im happy? do you think i should be happy in the world we live in? for fucks sake, you can’t fix everything!” Hange slammed their hand down, breaking the small wooden box that held your jewelry. you jump back, collecting yourself quickly.

“you think im happy? you think i want to live like this? putting my friends in bags, delivering their uniforms to their families? i don’t know what i would do if anyone brought me your uniform. i’d lose myself. i’m not happy here, but i’m trying. i’m trying to control what i can, and that’s how i feel. i ask that you take stuff easy on yourself.” you shake, cries leaving your chest. “i know i cant fix everything. i cant even save people.”

“well then maybe you should just stay out of the way.” hange pushed past you, walking into the bedroom. “why are you being so mean?” you follow them, wiping your face. “it’s reality.” hange sighed, grabbing their glasses off the night stand. “please don’t go back there. i want you to sleep here tonight.” you held their wrist. “i want one night. that’s all i ask for.” you whisper.

hange shook you off, walking right into the office. “fine! do whatever you want! i’m fucking sick of it, i’m sick of having to beg for what i want, i’m tired of it. i’m tired of you.” you cry after them, grabbing your coat off the rack, swinging open the door.

that was the last time hange had seen you. levi brought your uniform to their doorstep a week later.

You didn't know anyone in Levi squad most of them came from the southern cadet corp. You are from the north. They all knew each other and to them you were the new one.

You met them along with Captain Levi in a hide out cabin.

They were all very nice and welcoming. You remained reserved and barely spoke.

You roomed with Sasha and Mikasa. They're the ones that hear you talk the most. You felt the most comfortable around them and Armin.

You cleaned well and you were helpful with Eren's titan experiments. Captain Levi took a liking to you. He thought you were intelligent, quiet, respectful and didn’t complain.

While doing an experiment you see a woman you've seen many times along with a man talking to Captain Levi. She and the guy lept down the cliff to pull Eren out of his titan form. You saw this as an opportunity.

"Excuse me, Captain, who's that woman you were just talking to?"

"Section Commander Hange Zoe." Levi said.

You look at her pulling out Eren and screaming.

"Will she be around us, a lot?" You asked politely.

"Why?" Levi asked, you blushed then turned away.

"Just curious, thank you, sir." You walked back to your post seeing Hange pulling Eren all the way out.

"L/N," you looked over your shoulder giving your attention to Levi. "The tea you made last night was good. Please make some tonight."

"Thank you, yes sir."

You made the tea and you made sure to do it perfectly knowing your Captain actually likes it.

While at dinner with everyone you ate your soup and you are in your head like you usually are. You thought of story ideas and some books you've read.

Along with the rest of the table, you laughed at a joke Connie told.

You knew Sasha will always take your left overs and so you passed your bowl of soup to her.

"You're the best! I love you!" Sasha exclaimed.

Later Levi squad are in their rooms and Levi and Hange are talking about tomorrow’s schedule. About an hour later Hange decided she should go to her squad’s hide out cabin.

Levi stays seated at the dining table sipping his tea and rereading plans.

As Hange passed the stairs, you muster out a “Hi.” She turns to you on the stairs and smiled.

“Hi there!” Hange said.

“Section Commander Hange Zoe, right? My names Y/N.” You said descending the stairs and extending a handshake.

“Yes Y/N! Ive heard of you, its nice to formally meet you.” Hange shook your hand and noticed how short you are.

You can’t help blush, but you’ve been wanting to talk to her, so you try your best to continue to conversation. “Your glasses are really cute, they suit you.”

“THANK YOU! I’m practically blind without them!” Hange said beaming. You boldly take them off her face and hold out your hand.

“$100 and you get them back,” you said deadpan. Hange bursted laughing and you laugh too, happy she liked your joke. While you both are laughing you offer her glasses back. “Here.”

“Oh I’m grateful you dropped your ransom.” She put them back on her face..

“Yeah I don't need them since I can see better than you.” You shot back. Hange laughed more, her smile bigger, and because of her contagious laugh and energy you join. She pushed your shoulder playfully.

“Who even are you?” Hange rhetorically managed to ask through her red face and teary eyes starting develop. You feel satisfied that she is enjoying conversing with you.

Levi heard all this from the dining room and is in disbelief that you were saying all this considering you rarely joined conversations. It’s late and he's ready to send you back to bed.

“You’re funny, I can see why Levi picked you to be in his squad,” Hange smiled ear to ear.

“She’s more talkative than usual.” Levi said behind Hange and it made Hange jump. “What’s the reason you’re down here?” He asked.

“I’m sorry Captain, I just wanted to get a drink of water then I ran into section commander Hange and wanted to introduce myself.” You said genuinely.

“Get your water and back to bed. We have early hours tomorrow.” Levi remembered that you were respectful and not a trouble maker like Jean and Sasha.

“Yes, sir."

“You keep chatting to Hange, she might piss herself.” He said.

“Piss for me.” You said while looking into her eyes. Hange cackles throwing her head back then puts a hand on your shoulder holding herself up from doubling over. You giggle then gradually laughed harder. To the point where you both are laughing silently.

Levi stood there with his arms crossed watching this play out. He's confused where this witty side came from. He's wondering how your stupid line is causing you both to cry from laughing.

You're pleased that you're making this extremely cute woman laugh at everything you say. Both of your energies are causing you both to find everything funny.

When you both start calming down. Hange glanced at Levi's expressionless face, she couldn't contain her laughter, causing you to giggle a little more.

"Okay, you go back to your cabin" he said with a slight amusement in his tone. He began pushing Hange toward the door. "You, off to bed."

"It was nice to meet you," you said wishing you could talk to Hange more.

"Goodnight Y/N! I'm glad we officially met!" You feel so satisfied with the outcome as you walk to the sink.

You replay the conversation in your head. You grab a glass and start getting water from the faucet. Hange enjoying your company and having her laugh with you makes you elated. You notice your heart beating out of your chest.

You chug the water and and then refill the glass to take upstairs. You spot Levi standing with his arms crossed, as you turned to start heading upstairs.

"You're secretly weird, aren't you?" Levi asked and you didn't know how to answer it. You couldn't tell if he was mad or wanted a certain answer.

"I'm sorry Captain for the late night disturbance, I'm heading to bed." You said strolling pass him.

"What's with the formalities when you just told a commander to piss for you?"

Lonely nights

Dec. 5 Hange x reader 

You where alone, once again in your small apartment. It is already 10pm, December 25th and your lover still hasn’t arrived home. Your eyes where puffy red from all the tears shed that lonely Christmas day. You where still waiting for them, the Christmas dinner you prepared now cold, still untouched in the dining table.

You took a sip of your hot cocoa but it didn’t aid in warming you up. The cold empty, quiet atmosphere made you want to start crying again. You where so lonely. Not even one text did you receive from them. You didn’t even know if they where safe, what if something happened to them? This just made the tears start falling quicker and you found yourself crumbling in yet another  breakdown that evening.

At 1:30 AM Hange arrives home, they open the door quietly, knowing you sleep early. They felt so bad that they couldn’t be by your side this Christmas, today their boss was being a bitch and didn’t let them leave until they finished writing a report. They need the money, so they did what their boss told them too, all they want is to be able to buy you everything you want. They had left their phone at the house this morning on accident, since they and to rush and be quiet in an attempt to not wake you.

Their eyes widened and a few tears left their eyes when they saw the dinner you had prepared for them on the dining table. It was decorated, and it looked like it took you a long time to prepare. Their hands trembled as they set down their bag on the floor and walked closer to the table. Your food was untouched too, and there where no plates on the sink; evidence that you had not eaten today.

There was a small present placed on top of the table and a note that you wrote, “For you my love, eat the dinner and I will wash the dishes tomorrow. I’m sorry it’s not too much. I tried to stay up but ‘m so tired. Love you always.”

Hange’s heart broke and her eyes watered at the note. They felt like the worst person ever, they should’ve left early. They hesitantly walked towards your shared bedroom and opened the door softly. You where hugging their pillow closely, whimpering and they knew you where awake. After all, you can’t sleep without their protective arms around you.

“Princess?” they whispered and you quickly got up sleepily jogging towards them and launching yourself in their arms. They smiled and hooked their hands under your legs to carry you. Your face hid on their neck and they kissed your forehead gently.

“m-miss you,” You croaked against their neck, your voice raspy from hours spent crying, before pecking them on the neck. 

“I’m so sorry sweetheart,” Hange said, their voice cracking slightly and you tugged them closer. Their arms slowly put you back down to the floor and they cupped your cheeks, a few tears leaving their eyes. You frowned, and placed your own hands on their cheeks, catching and wiping the gentle tears that stained their face.

“’s okay,” you mumbled standing on your toes to give them a kiss that they returned immediately. Their arms gripped your waist and they created small circles tenderly with their hands.

“Merry Christmas my love,” they mumbled, leaning in to capture your lips again. You smiled and yawned sleepily, before leaning forward and pressing your forehead against theirs. Hange smiled at your cuteness, pressing another kiss to your lips.

“hungry,” you muttered against their lips and they smiled gently. 

“Let’s go eat then,” they said, intertwining your hands and quietly pulling you to the dinning table.

They sat down on their chair and you followed sitting on top of their lap facing them. You hid your face on their neck kissed it, and pulled back to look at them. Their hands where placed on your hips protectively.

“I’m sorry, it’s probably cold by now and I don’t think it tastes very good,” you said and their eyes widened. 

“sorry? darling, if anything i should be sorry for taking so long! You have nothing to apologize for,” they said, their lips found your cheek and you smiled at them blushing slightly. 

“It’s okay, I know you get busy,” 

“Still, I can do better, I will be here all day tomorrow, okay? We can open gifts tomorrow morning and watch a movie like we where supposed to today, okay love?” they said, their hands squeezing you waist and you nodded your head giving them a small smile.

They wrapped their left arm around your waist, grabbed the fork with the right one and started eating. The food was cold but they wouldn’t change it for anything, after all it was made by the one they love so dearly.

After every bite they took, they would give you one. Placing the fork carefully against your lips and feeding you the dinner you prepared.

When you where full you nuzzled against them while they continued to eat the remaining of food. Your breathing evened out as you fell into a deep slumber, safe in your lovers arms.

Hange kissed your forehead, smiling at your sleeping form. You needed some rest so they carried you to your shared bedroom and lay down in bed with you wrapping their arms around your body and kissing your forehead,

        You two were currently spying on Captain Levi and Commander Erwin. Why? Because the kids paid you and Hange a decent amount of money to tell them if they were dating or not, and Hange being Hange, they were nosy too. 

       Even if the four of you were best friends, Levi and Erwin would never cough up the confession that they were together obviously. So maybe Hange thought they could sneak around it. 

        Right now the two of them were speaking about important stuff, it sounded serious. Something about Levi wanting the kids to be safe, but also Erwin to be safer. He wanted Erwin behind everyone else, not in front risking his life for everyone else’s. 

    You knew a serious Levi, but his tone was serious and deadset. It made you and Hange both scared. “Do you think they’re together?” Hange nudged you. “Well I don't know, I can't see past you.” You roll your eyes. Hange huffed, pushing you in front of them. You peeked your head out, letting out a small whimper. 

        You couldn’t even believe what you were seeing! Levi was on his tiptoes, hugging Erwin with his face in his neck, slowly inhaling his scent. You thought you were dreaming. Hange gasped, gripping your arms with excitement. You almost forgot the mission here. Levi snapped his head towards your direction, eyebrows furrowed. 

        You and Hange slid back behind the wall, whispering while arguing about what you should do. You heard the footsteps coming closer. You bit the inside of your cheek, looking around for some kind of door or closet. 

        Hange’s hands placed themselves on your face, lips planted on yours. Your eyes widened in shock, but you kissed back. Your hands were tangled in their hair, lips crushing against one another. Your back hit the wall and Hange’s hands were now placed on your wrist, not stopping to even breathe. 

       You heard someone loudly clear their throat. You and Hange pulled apart, giving the two a guilty look. “Popular hangout spot?” Hange gave them a shy smile, hand intertwined with yours. “And where are you supposed to be?” “Guarding the mess hall…” Hange trailed off. 

      “Well! What a wonderful surprise. We’ll be on our way now.” You laugh awkwardly, dragging Hange off. “What was that?” You said as you turned around the corner. “You’re not mad, are you? It was the only thing I could think of.” Hange frowned. “Of course not.       “Well no one is here.” You could practically hear their smirk. “Ok, i get it.” You rolled your eyes. “Why are you studying this late anyway?” “Big assessment tomorrow. It's huge and we have to mix chemicals and stuff.” “Tough shit. You think Professor Erwin’s gonna kill you if you fail?” “What part of ‘huge’ did you miss?” Hange smiled. 

       “Pshhh, don’t ask me. I couldn’t even tell you the color of the sky right now.” You leaned your head back, closing your eyes. “Do you have someone to walk you home?” Hange’s tone changed. “I’m not gonna lie, I came here alone.” You sighed.

        “Someone’s gotta be there.” “I got Sash.” You rubbed your eyes. “That’s fine, as long as she can walk you home. Or someone… besides that Ymir girl… she’s too touchy.” Hange said. You froze, sitting up. “What do you mean?” You pushed more. 

      Why would Hange ever care about your past flings. “Well, she’s just weird.” Hange played it off with a laugh. “Cause we were a thing?” You squinted. “Not necessarily…” They trailed off. “It’s because we were a thing.” You said ina. demanding tone. “I’m not repeating myself.” Hange hummed. 

      You stayed quiet for a moment. “Are you jealous?” You laugh. Now it was Hange’s turn to stay silent. “Why would I be jealous?” Hange nervously chuckled. “Because you and I know there’s something going on.” You lowered your tone.

        “You’re drunk off your ass!” Hange laughed. “Am I really?” You challenged them. You knew that if you were sober, these words would not be leaving your mouth. But there was so much tension between you and Hange, it was hard to deny. 

      Your friends always told you to reconsider your thoughts about Hange. You brushed it off, not wanting to ruin everything. You were feeling quite confident at this moment. 

        “You tell me.” Hange snarked back. “Well, I think you and I know what’s really going on here.” You bit your lip. “And what is that exactly?” “That we both know this whole roommate's bullshit is just an excuse to be around eachother. We both know there’s more to that.” 

      Hange stayed silent. “I’m going home.” You hang up the phone, standing from the floor.

         Your head laid against the cold wall, head pounding. You heard a chuckle.

        Hange took their key, fitting in the lock. “Did you forget your key?” “I was waiting on you.” You shook your head. Hange helped you up, rushing you inside. 

         “What was that whole thing about?” Hange asked you, kneeling to take off your shoes. “Just some drunk thoughts.” “Which are sober ones?” Hange pulled off your shoe, standing back up. “Maybe.” “Why can’t we talk about this when you’re sober?” Hange set down their backpack, cheeks turning red. 

    You stayed silent, looking down. You felt Hange’s warm lips on yours, back pressing against the kitchen counter. They held your face in between their hands, lips softly molding with yours. They pulled back, panic in their voice. “I should’ve asked, I'm sorry.” They blushed harder. You shook your head, pushing their foggy glasses up. You kissed them again, before pecking their face over and over again. 

      “You reconsider what I said.” You kiss their nose once more.
