Además de Grateful Dead, llegué a la música country a través de los Cramps, Alan Vega, los Stray Cats y Social Distortion. Me arrearon hasta los noventa y en ese galope me aficioné a Johnny Cash, a Hank Williams y a Kris Kristofferson; además, surgió el alt country para los que no querían ensuciarse, apareció la autobiografía Cash, Rick Rubin produjo los cuatro discos de American Recordings y, al final, El Hombre de Negro murió en 2003. Todo eso y la película Walk The Line de James Mangold convirtieron los chistes rockerillos en veneración a la reata y la pistola. Dos punks cansados de ser punks se metieron al rodeo para montar broncos a pelo: Mike Ness y el nieto de la leyenda, Hank Williams III.
