First week Letters

Vowels

Now we will start with the first .. how to pronounce the first 8 vowels.

ㅏ A : like in Apple

ㅓ Ao : like in Water

ㅗ O : like in Cool , Book

ㅜ U : like in Rule

ㅡ eu : this one is a lettel bet complicated ..

i am sure that you heard in drama saying oneul 오늘 which means Today in korean. ( this is the only way or word came in my mind <^^)

ㅣ i - E : like in keep or Example

ㅔ and ㅐ are pronounced the same ae : like in Organization

( while you are reading them try to write them to make your mind to know the difference between the vowels and after that just test your self to know in which one you mistake for a whole week so you brain will memorize them)

Consonants

now we will start with the first 6 consonants:

ㄱ k or g : like in book, mask, Korea

ㄴ n : like in nail, snail, phone

ㄷ D or T : like in head, date ( reading it D or T it depends on it;s location)

ㄹ R or L : right , left ,water

ㅁ M : like in me, more, morning

ㅂ B : like in book, back

Now to make it easier to memorize the vowels with the consonants we will try to read some words has there letters.

가구 ( Kagu ) which means Furniture , 고기 ( Kogi ) which means meat. 가을 ( Kaeul ) which mean fall season.

나 ( na ) which means me, i , i am , 노래 ( nore ) which means song, sing., 노루 ( noru ) which means deer.

다리 ( tari ) which means leg/ bridge, 구두 (kudu) which means shoe, 두개 ( du kea ) which means two pieces.

오리 (Ori) which means duck, 라디오 (Radio) as in radio, 우리 ( Uri) which means us, we , our. ( note that the 오리 and 우리 are pronanuced the same, the defferent is with O ㅗ and U ㅜ )

머리 ( maori ) which means head, 무 ( mu ) which means radish, 나무 ( namu) which means Tree.

배 ( pae ) which means ship, 바다 ( Pada) which means beach.

in the situation you couldn't read the Korean words Just use Google translate to head the pronunciation.

Try reading there words ( will help you a lot especially for thus who has problem with remembering the letters .

How to memorize the letters better without forgetting them later

Firstly, i think the best way is to start with the vowels ( as dividing them into 3 parts) and every week with 5 consonants.

( i will but it here with examples)

There are 21 vowels which are :

ㅏ , ㅓ ,ㅗ , ㅜ , ㅡ, ㅣ , ㅔ , ㅐ (first week)

ㅑ, ㅕ , ㅛ , ㅠ , , ㅖ , ㅒ (Second week)

ㅘ, ㅝ , ㅚ , ㅚ , ㅢ , , ㅞ, ㅙ (Third week)

And there are 19 consonant letters which are:

ㄱ, ㄴ , ㄷ ,ㄹ , ㅁ , ㅂ , ㅅ , ㅇ , ㅈ , ㅎ ( there letter if you memorize them it will be easier to memorize the rest coz they are related )

ㅋ , , ㅌ , , ㅍ , , ㅊ ,

끄 , , ㄸ , , ㅃ , ㅆ , , ㅉ ,

First of all, if you what to start to learn any language it’s important to learn the alphabets first. this chart will help you a lot. i will add a video to make it easier for all to pronounce the letters in the right way.

The colored Letters are the consonants and the letters in black are the vowels.

to me i took around 5 weeks to fully memorize the letters because i had some problem with the vowels. ( So just take your time and don’t try to memorize them quickly)
