hanna: marlene, i don’t know how things work in the capital wasteland, which, from your description, sounds like a colorful, lawless swamp
marlene:
hanna! for the ask thing!
pick a character i’ve written and i will explain the top three to five ideas / concepts / etc that i keep in mind while writing that character that i believe are essential to accurately depicting them.
01. hanna is a mother, which might seem to be an obvious assertion, but being a mother has fostered a lot of patience and emotional understanding in her, which she frequently uses in the wasteland — and that’s why she’s more eager than a lot of her companions to extend an olive branch.
02. conversely, one of her key inspirations was beatrix from kill bill, so she does have a severe vengeful streak, especially against kellogg and the institute. she does not regret killing kellogg at all (and that scene actually includes one of my favorite lines in fallout four, which is “in a hundred years when i die, i hope i go to hell so i can kick your ass all over again.”)
03. she’s always been rebellious against organizations that weren’t moral — she wrote and published an underground newspaper / pamphlet pre-war that critiqued pretty much every part of american governmental policy.
04. “they do call me tenacious hanna down at the country club, because for the past ten years i’ve been suing them for discrimination”
thinking about my fallout ocs as xmen for some reason...
marlene is magneto --- she's got that kind of blind rage mixed with incredible power, but at the end of the day all she really wants is to be safe and have her loved ones be safe, but she's not afraid to kill a few thousand people to achieve that goal.
hanna is storm --- will fight with diplomacy first, but can rain hell on her enemies. often underestimated and has much more power than a cursory glance would reveal, also very motherly and affectionate towards her younger peers. they're both rulers of countries (in storm's case) or large swaths of land (in hanna's case)
tom is xavier --- well intentioned, but is often too privileged to understand others, despite his best efforts. genuinely a nice person, but is disconnected from the realities of many situations because he has lived a relatively cushioned life. also canonically a professor who would definitely die for his students
judith is movie-verse rogue --- sometimes devastating in her power, but mostly honestly just wants to go home or live a life unburdened by the kind of power that she possesses
lilith is the earlier incarnations of emma frost --- ice queen with an extremely small soft spot, manipulates men constantly, always fifteen steps ahead of you. has the whole using-sex-as-power thing, combined with could-kill-you-thirty-different-ways, rules the known universe, true neutral
