yah i dnt trust that shit like those traits are something you have to prove to me first and that might take a LONG time, and rightly so. also if the person i think youre talking about was actually caring, theyd realize that theyre being exploitative. god.

yeah like!! shit dude people can say they’re caring all they want, it doesn’t actually prove anything. i could say i’m really good at kickflips, but i’ve never touched a skateboard in my life and the ability to pull off those Sick Stunts doesn’t magically appear in my brain just because i say it does

also i’m like real suspicious of people who use the whole “empathic and intuitive” combo of personal traits to put themselves in positions of authority because that then makes said authority something rooted in emotion instead of in capability. like you can be an actually really empathetic and kind person and still be terribly suited for any kind of therapist-esque position due to literally any possible combo of other factors—maybe your affective empathy (because lbr, that’s usually what people mean in this context by “empathy”) doesn’t let you disengage at the end of the day, or you don’t have any personal experience with the struggles of the person you’re listening to and can’t offer anything they haven’t heard already, or you come into it with a “saviour” sort of attitude and try to steamroll over people who know their own capabilities... like there’s So Much

hanna! for the ask thing!

pick a character i’ve written and i will explain the top three to five ideas / concepts / etc that i keep in mind while writing that character that i believe are essential to accurately depicting them.

01.  hanna is a mother, which might seem to be an obvious assertion, but being a mother has fostered a lot of patience and emotional understanding in her, which she frequently uses in the wasteland — and that’s why she’s more eager than a lot of her companions to extend an olive branch.

02.  conversely, one of her key inspirations was beatrix from kill bill, so she does have a severe vengeful streak, especially against kellogg and the institute. she does not regret killing kellogg at all (and that scene actually includes one of my favorite lines in fallout four, which is “in a hundred years when i die, i hope i go to hell so i can kick your ass all over again.”)

03.  she’s always been rebellious against organizations that weren’t moral — she wrote and published an underground newspaper / pamphlet pre-war that critiqued pretty much every part of american governmental policy.

04.  “they do call me tenacious hanna down at the country club, because for the past ten years i’ve been suing them for discrimination”

i only ever see peacocks when im hiking OR when we are in the middle of no where on a road trip...i think peacocks only occupy liminal spaces

seriously, there is nothing more liminal than being at some weird empty tourist stop and the presence of these weirdly big shrieking demons
