Mimosa didn’t know how to react to his fear’s confirmation so he stayed on the ground for a moment. Mu and Lint did the same but more so because they had fallen on each other during the ordeal and were arguing.
Fancy was missing? But he just left to get some groceries? He should be back soon!
The boy pointedly ignored Fancy’s shield (he never took it off his tail before!) and the ripped piece of sleeve now innocently resting on the living-room’s couch.
He will be back soon! They just had to wait-
And at that singular thought, his soul seized and he froze.
Just had to wait.
Just had to wait.
Just had to wait.
He put his shaking hands under his knees. Stop. Stop!
Focus on something else!
He turned towards Mu and lifted her from Lint’s back, cutting short to their argument. His sister wiggled a second on his knees before twisting her head to look at his face. She blinked and settled against his chest, a comforting weight against his chest.
“We’re going to look for him, you three stay here and wait for us-”
“DON’T TELL ME TO WAIT!” he harshly cut Todhh, feeling panic rising back up. He quickly looked away before he could see any eyes on him.
“...don’t tell me to wait, please.”
Maybe if it was Fancy in front of him, these words would have changed the final decision. But it wasn’t -and wasn’t that the exact source of the problem anyways?- and while Nip seemed unsure about it, Toddh refused to budge.
They parted ways after hugs and reassurances that settled him a bit but he still found himself wiping away tears after many goodbyes and promising to come back in one hour top (the winged-monster even gave him a small watch he secured on his wrist).
One hour.
Just one hour.
The two adults having left, the three kids looked at the door for a minute in silence before sharing glances.
A wide grin splitted Lint’s face.
“Let’s go search too!”
And the three, after a planning session about what kind of road the missing monster must have taken -it was always the same, he sure liked his habits- they linked their hands and left the living-room, only leaving behind some last bits of the paper flowers that decorated Mu’s hat not so long ago.
babyteeth 2019 was sooo good idk how controversial that is. my most normie trait is i love slice of life / nothing happens / snapshots of the day by day / its about the tiny moments type films. when the movie is a languid meditation on the beauty of everyday mundane moments >:)🛟
