Ralph huffed, looking over the notecard with a scowl. He signed up to this event hoping to meet people and get involved, but didn’t have the first idea how to figure out the clues he was given. How are you supposed to meet people when you don’t already know them? This is stupid.
He supposed the idea was to go around and ask people, but that just made him feel dumb and awkward. So he just threw out a question to the crowd, desperate that someone would answer. “Does anyone know what “being popular in Philadelphia” means? Is my partner Gritty?”
@happieststarters
Well this was HARD
Ella looked at the partner she had been granted with a gaze of confusion, she didn’t have a clue who her potential partner for the event could be, but it would be awkward to ask a random stranger if they were that specific code name. There were two individuals that came to mind, well three if she counted her sister Deziree in as well. But surely she wouldn’t be matched with Deziree that would be silly.
“Are you having more luck than I am?” She asked the person next to her.
Rachel was probably a little too excited about this Valentine’s Day event the community events committee were running, owing to the fact that she loved Valentine’s Day, and hadn’t actually read the event outline in full. Somehow she had missed the random pairing element of the event, assuming that she and Toulouse were going to show up and draw an activity from a hat together. (After said activity, she was going to be running around deliver her usual handmade cards to all her friends, and had placed them inside her bag to take with her in case any of those friends happened to show up).
Rachel wasn’t... disappointed, per se, that she wouldn’t get to spend the day with Toulouse, but it had taken her off guard. But! This was totally an opportunity to have fun and make friends! If only she could figure out who on earth her partner was.
“This is a piece of cake! I’ve totally got this. Like, three clues are more than enough. I’m basically Detective Rachel at this point,” she mumbled to herself, making no progress on the task at hand.
Whoever Kronk’s secret valentine was, he was going to be ready. Whether they were looking for romance, a friend, a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to give them some good advice, he was ready and willing. Kronk looked around the crowd of people anxiously trying to find their matches, and smiled. He was holding a single red rose in his hand to give to whomever his match happened to be. Single or taken, everyone deserved to feel loved on Valentine’s day, he thought. What better way to ensure that than by making someone feel special? According to the clues, he was looking for someone with brown hair, a great smile, and who hated peas. The last one wasn’t exactly obvious or easy to guess, but he liked the challenge.
“Excuse me,” he called out to someone walking by. “You wouldn’t happen to hate peas, would you?”

“ HERE IS ADVENTURE... HERE IS R O M A N C E... HERE IS MYSTERY... ”
CODENAME: CANDY EVENT
Have you ever felt that something is missing this time of year? Be it love, friendship, or candy, the Community Events Committee are back in action with this year’s extra special Valentine’s Day Event. Now fear not, there is something on offer for everyone this year, whether you’re romantically inclined, or hoping a new friendship will blossom.
Redwood Hollow is known for its mystery, and this year the Events Committee will be using it to their advantage. What’s better than a date? A blind date! And what’s better than a blind date? That’s right! A game!
Applications for the CODENAME: CANDY event are now open. You have 10 days to submit your application to be in with a chance of participating in this extra special game of love, friendship, and free candy.
Now, I hear you asking: what does the game entail?
A valid question indeed.
Our game begins adjacent the steps of the Enchanted Rose Cafe. All participants must meet at the marquee by 10am sharp on Tuesday 14th of February, prepared for anything. (Wear sensible shoes, bring a coat, and if you’re feeling extra daring, pack an extra special outfit just in case.)
Prior to attending, all players will have submitted a CODENAME to the organisers. Your CODENAME must remain a secret until you have been instructed to reveal your identity to the other participants. Along with this codename, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire with three clues to who you really are.
At the beginning of our event, each codename, as well as the 3 clues, will be pinned to a board. You will be given 30 minutes to peruse the board. You may begin speculating who the codenames belong to at this stage.
Following the perusal, all codenames will be placed on a spinning wheel and paired at random.
You will have a further 20 minutes to find your pair based on the codenames and clues.
This is where the real fun begins! Once everyone has found their partner, each pairing will be asked to draw an activity from the hat. You will then be given a token to redeem for that activity for one day only, and from there left to your own devices as a team. We cannot reveal all of the activities quite yet, as we want to keep up the mystery and suspense as long as we can, but there is a wide range of activities to potentially be chosen for! From dinner, to a spa day, to a frolic with the flamingoes.
You have until Saturday 11th February to submit your applications for CODENAME: CANDY !!

An OOC information post will be posted shortly with more details for players and what participating will entail out of character.
Toulouse was more than happy to not be single on Valentine’s day. He loved that Rachel was his valentine this year, and even if they didn’t get to spend the majority of the day together, he would still make sure to give her the present he got her at some point. This year, the town’s event for Valentine’s day sounded cute and fun, so of course they signed up. Even if they were just looking for friends, Toulouse had a feeling this would be a fun experience.
Looking at his card, the first clue for his match was that they could play the ukulele. Toulouse didn’t know how to play it himself but he always wanted to learn. “Huh, plays the ukulele... maybe they can teach me,” he smiled softly to himself as he continued reading. Every now and then he scanned the crowd, watching other people try to crack their own cases.
