I really just think the "no bad dogs, only bad owners" rhetoric leaves out the very important consideration of situations where both were set up to fail

Yes I firmly believe that dogs can't be "bad"

Honestly I think that people can't be either. People genuinely think that they're doing the correct thing

But dogs don't really think in complex ways like that

Most pet owners don't want to set their dogs up to fail

They want their pets to be happy while they are also happy and having fun

But there is also an ever increasing amount of difficult dogs and vastly different societal expectations surrounding pets that makes even some pretty minor issues incredibly difficult to deal with

Owners aren't "bad" for being lied to by breeders

Owners aren't "bad" for rescues withholding important information

Owners aren't "bad" for being taught poor training approaches

Owners aren't "bad" for being unable to handle intense dogs (ESPECIALLY if that dog really was not supposed to be that driven or sensitive (like the massive influx of puppy mill retrievers who are severely lacking in confidence and impulse control and have severe arousal issues))

Maybe they were just dealt shitty cards okay

Maybe it's not the dog's or the owner's fault for not being a good match

Maybe expectations surrounding dogs has changed way too much way too quickly

#the way that the internet will see dogs living outside and call it abuse is actually insane #like yall literally six years ago not a single dog in the neighborhood went in the house unless it was bad weather #that was NORMAL #the dogs LOVED it #Rossi's always come inside at night but she was outside all day #not once would we EVER be bringing our dogs inside someone else's house when visiting for a party/bbq #they stayed in the yard #dogs didn't go on furniture #they didn't ride on the seats in the car #they sure as hell weren't allowed on the carpet #and now a happy healthy well cared for dog who lives outside is abuse?#this dog who has shelter and fresh water and the spaces to temperature regulate?#bitch please its a dog #go storm a puppy mill or backyard breeder #that dog is perfectly fine #and that brings me to my point: dogs destroying furniture and jumping on guests and resource guarding and counter surfing #those are real fucking annoying #and also REALLY NEW PROBEMS #those literally did not exist as an issue until the last 20~ years when dogs started becoming very popular as a house pet #so reactivity? hyper arousal? resource guarding?#no i dont blame owners for not being able to handle that #its real fucking hard #im a dog trainer and bella routinely drives me insane with issues that ive never experienced with a single other dog #its okay if you cant handle that #i really do not blame you #it is so SO hard sometimes #yeah there's no bad dogs but owners aren't automatically bad either #they're all good dogs but they can be a bad dog for that person

this time last year i was probably sitting in the kitchen while my dad started making an early dinner of chicken bolognese trying not to get too nervous about the concert i'd be going to in a few hours

#the nyc concert was last year. LAST YEAR .#thats so insane like yeah that feels like a year ago but good god the insane amount of stuff that has happened since #but god i remember that day so well #it was cloudy and a little rainy in the morning which made me ough thinking it was a bad omen and wouldnt be as fun #and i remember going to library and printing out my silly letters (i should have just. not done that lol)#and on the DAY OF on the way back home from the library #i even bought a cropped black blazer specifically for my concert outfit. havent worn it since lmao #and my dad and i even watched a movie at lunch #a short movie but a movie nonetheless. lol and even then i was like oghh my gosh excitement and nervousness #and then the car service getting there i felt so fancy and as the drive started the clouds were magically dissipating #so that it was a nice clear evening when i got to the theatre #and then all the insanity of the show. god i cant believe it still after all this time. wowie #going to listen to a playlist of the show setlist im gonna get emotional now. guys........#one of my fave memories is how everyone started standing up as they went into so may we start so i was like ok are we all doing this #and stood up too and then stood for the entire rest of the concert. i think the first 3-5 rows were like that for the whole show #surreal and insane i was front row. those guys were REAL and CLOSE #i was also very excited to notice russells new shoes :) when i wasnt like awooga (how i was 99% of the time)#there was one so may we start jump that was well. yeah. front row baby #i think after latte i was like ok i cant film i gotta just vibe #religious experience doing the 'ah ah ah's during that. really interesting #ok im not gonna go through the whole show again but wowie one of my most insane nights. second only to hollywood bowl #wow what a fun year it was. just so many incredible moments #ok yay 💖 happy one year to all that. love those guys so much #spars #ok not actually done beaver o lindy was INSANE LIVE!!! AS WAS EVERYTHING ELSE. so fun ok now done for real

danny talking about how resentful she became when nobody who she self-sacrificed for cared when she died and then leaving kirsch with laura and carmilla bc "if he stays with me i might lose control again and kill him" kinda confirms my thoughts abt both newly-turnedness and anger making vampires more vampiry

but also makes me think that in more usual circumstances, when the dean turned vampires like carmilla and mattie, that shes really nice at the start to temper any of that unruly anger

#we dont have a lot of info on her usual mo i guess but im thinking a lot abt how it mustve gone with carmilla #i dont know if she was a special case or if this is usually generally how it goes #i suppose you dont necessarily need a lot of new ones do you. if youve got one vampire seductress in working condition #mattie had her role on the board #danny was just for end of the world purposes i think. opportunistic turning. to replace will perhaps #but im thinking abt how at first the dean and carmilla were kinda close. and i have no illusions abt what that meant for the dean like #im sure it was just to control carmilla. play into what she needed to ensure centuries of loyalty. and that kinda worked until elle #and looking at mattie i expect most of them will eventually start rebelling so i wouldnt be surprised if she did smth similar with mattieto #just 1000 years earlier. and at our point in the story mattie is doing strained coexistence with her right?#carmilla is well in mattie's view rocking the boat once again for a cute girl #thats so funny oh my god. iconic. take the first lesbian predator archetype character and make it so that she keeps #rebelling against the evil BECAUSE shes so gay #like literally thats her entire motivation 'of course i was just doing it for you' oh my godddd hfkjhgjhghj ICONIC #i love her so much i love her soooo much #what was i talking about. oh yeah so i think the dean in usual circumstances is very nice at first and spoils her new vampires #to foster allegiance #god carmilla must just have been so happy to have someone care about her and be nice to her i think #every thought i have abt 18 yo carmilla is so sad #but i can imagine those early years/decades of her and the dean travelling around. mattie there too maybe not all the time #but enough time. mattie there too specifically also to make carmilla feel wanted and make friendship so she wouldnt rebel #to guide her through her young vampire years probably! damn yeah i bet that was mattie who taught her all the tricks #mother isnt a vampire and i dont see her really caring. i think mattie probably taught carmilla the do's and don'ts of vampiredom #and they had fun! they had fun with it. they had cruel fun being vampires together. i think carmilla was just happy to belong #maybe mattie was happy to have a friend too idk if she had many. not many vampire friends anyway. she seems to have fun being a sister #anyway. just thinking aloud #carmillaposting

Okay, there’s been something about Miracle Mask that’s bugged me ever since I saw it, and it’s that Henry and Angela didn’t really get married and were just waiting for Randall to return so that Randall and Angela can get married

Like, okay, I can accept all the other stuff with Henry building Monte D’Or and using Randall’s wealth all to find him, but this point just feels like too much of a stretch to me

Because like, it’s been 18 years. While sure you may have held out hope for Randall coming back all those years ago at this point I think you just need to move on. And I mean, is Angela really this hung up on a guy she dated as a teenager that she’d be willing to just remarry to him even after all this time? They spent more time apart than they ever did together, heck they spent more time apart than they had even been alive! You two wouldn’t know each other anymore by that point!

And while yeah, I can accept that Henry and Angela having a fake marriage is something they would do back then, are you telling me that over the course of those 18 years, they didn’t find love in each other and decide to move on with their lives by just being with each other? Like honestly I feel like Angela/Henry is a much better pairing than Randall and Angela (or even him with Henry) at this point, because it feels like these two people were able to actually move on with their lives and find a way to pick up the pieces of their lives together, instead of just staying in the past like they do in canon

#another thing that bugged me is that after explaining Monte D’Or to Randall he was still mad at Henry #bc he “stole Angela from him”#and was mad at Angela for being with Henry #as if she was supposed to stay hung up on the guy she dated as a teenager and never find new happiness in her life #like she thought you were dead is she not allowed to move on with her life?#sorry this has just been something on my mind #honestly I probably didn’t word it very well #but you get what I’m saying #oh yeah I don’t hate any pairings with Randall in the present or anything #I just don’t like how in canon nobody really moved on and just stayed stuck in the past #like I just feel like it would have been better had they just tried to make a new start together #instead of restoring things to how they used to be for them all #when it’s been 18 years #anyways #professor layton #angela ledore #henry ledore #randall ascot #miracle mask #miracle mask spoilers #ramblings
