"Wishing you a Happy Midnight..."
From the Happy Midnight team we hope you’re well whilst reading this? If you are reading this, you’ve probably heard and seen the video to ‘So Dark’ by Eyec Jaé, right? Well don’t worry if you haven’t. You’ll be able to check it out by clicking right.... here!
The visual aid to SO DARK is an attempt of ours to give an insight in to an individual’s personal experience of depression and anxiety. Depression and anxiety are beginning to become increasingly occurring issues in the lives of many people - particularly teenagers and young adults. In a world where there is so much stigma attached to those words, we believe it’s important for people to know that they are not alone – and that they have nothing to be ashamed of. One in five people face depression at some stage of their lives and many also face feelings of anxiety in different contexts, respectively.
So let us try help a little?...
Us guys at Happy Midnight think its essential to offer young people the support and reassurance they need in seeking a helping hand. As we all know (well… I know I do), sometimes, it can be difficult to speak to others about how we are feeling because we have presumptions about how they may react or whether it is actually worth it or not. But it definitely is. What we have learned and seen to be true is that no one should go through these things alone. Whether it’s a friend or family member (as long as it is someone you trust). Be that your teacher, counselor or even your GP. Speak to someone and allow yourself the chance for your voice to be heard – let the light in! (Too corny… Yeah? Yeah, definitely too corny but you get what we mean, right?).
Creativity, in every aspect of that word, is an amazing and unlimited outlet and our team love seeing that from young people; we want to show the world your energy and expression. Whether you draw, paint, sing, rap, act, write, blog… OR ANYTHING, we would love to see it. If your outlet has helped you and/or spurred some sort of passion and creativity, feel free to tell us about it (WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT!). Any work that you submit to us and is posted on our blog will be kept anonymous unless requested otherwise - For submissions, click here!
Unfortunately no members of the Happy Midnight team are currently professionally trained to give direct advice on anxiety and depression however we can offer an opportunity for you to talk to us, if that is all you really need (we’re honestly quite cool… Just saying). In addition to this we also recommend checking out some of the great external charities and organisations available that are willing to listen and help in areas where we may be unable. Below this post we have listed a few of those organisations/charities.
If you feel that you require further help, information or if you feel you are effected physically, do speak to your GP - information is kept confidential in almost all cases. Please remember that if you know someone whom you think is going through a rough time, be a listening ear and a friend to them to the best of your ability, and inform them of all the additional support that is available.
