A test sample of a conversation between Guard (Pip) and Suncat (Ruo). It's admittedly been a long looong ass time since I've written a fic of any kind but I'd honestly love to again, despite being rusty and not the best at forming words or writing but hey, why not at least try.

So I've written together a short conversation between Pip and Ruo that I honestly would like to draw in the form of a comic at some point but for now, you get text lol. Hope my writing is at the very least comprehensive to you. Without furthur ado, here ya go.

"..you're angry with me-"

"I didn't want you to tell them. I didn't want them to know."

"They would have found out eventually, I'm showing the signs. Any Senior Guard would know..this ain't really something I can hide easily, hehe"

"..."

"ah.."

The meeting had been..rough to sit through. Guard sat beside his Suncat like always while he relayed the news of his approaching deadline to the other Senior Guards, Guard's father included. He hated it. Forced to sit there while Suncat told of his symptom, just like he had to Guard that morning. It had been a peaceful spring morning like most for them, usually it was Guard that was the one to be up bright and early only to struggle with waking Suncat, who prefered to sleep in extra. But not that time, Suncat was up for once and suggested they go on a morning walk like they used to, alongside the brder of the fences near the treeline. Close to Where She Won't Go. Guard hadn't thought much of it in the moment until the news was broke to him. The changes were small, but unmistakable to what his father had told him. Bags under the eyes, the sour smell coming from his pelt and breath, and then the tabby's admition to having felt neasuous the day before but chalked it up to something he ate.

Until he eventually vomited and saw the specks of blood. Now there was no denying it.. Their time together was coming to an end.

"...I would have liked to have waited before you told others.."

He muttered, brows furrowed in frustration as he kept his head facing towards towards the open barn doors.. The tip of his tail twitching irritably.

The two sit in silence before Suncat slowly stepped closer and settled beside the black tom, casting a small sympathetic smile upwards. No reaction. He then sighed and shifted a little to easy up the feeling of fatigue his body was currently going through.

"I know..I know you don't like this, but we both knew it was inevitable. And I'm going to need you more than ever until Suneve"

Guard's expression slowly softened into one of understanding at first but then hardens at the mention of Suneve. Ears straightening up and he sharply raises his head. Fur already beginning to bristle. Sunxat frowns and leans in to gently but his head against Guard's shoulder.

"I've actually lived longer than most sunfurred toms. If you think about it I'm very lucky-"

"Lucky!? How is this lucky?! We're not even full grown!"

The other tom finally snaps, with drawing from the golden tabby and whipping around to face him with an exasperated look, ears pinned back again and eyes wide. He knew he was being childish about this, knew there was no reason to be having a problem with it now. He had been told of this, trained and prepared for this, this was what guards went through. This was why they didn't get attached, why they shouldn't get attached.

"And your acting like it's okay!"

"Pardon? I never said it was okay? Don't tell me things I never said."

"Your talking like it is-"

The younger tom suddenly growled, muzzle contorting in a small snarl and head thrusting forwards as he hissed. Suncat rarely ever got angry, if ever. He had always been so relaxed and carefree, even around the stricter cult members and Senior Guards. But now now. Now he looked annoyed, pissed off, fur pricking along his back and fangs bared in a hiss.

"What exactly do you expect me to do about it, Guard. Even if I wanted to, I can't! There is nothing. I. Can. Do. I can't do anything! It's already happening, Suneve is coming whether I like it or not, whether we like it or not. I could look past it in the beginning, but I always knew it was coming, and now it-"

His rant was suddenly cut off by the sound of his breath hitching and he quickly withdrew in order to step aside, erupting into a fit of coughs that resulted in flecks of bright scarlet spattering against the dry earth around them. Guard, who had already been stunned into silence at the outburst, stared at the sight. Green eyes wide and haunted as he watched..

Eventually the coughing subsided and Suncat sat there for a moment with his head still turned away, breathing hard before eventually bringing a paw up to his snout and wiping at his mouth. He then turned to look back at Guard, mouth and fur stained with blood and...God..he looked so much worse.

"..."

"I don't like it anymore than you do but there is nothing we can do about it. All I can ask of you now is to continue being with me for the time I have left. Until Suneve."

"..."

"..hey..look, I'm sorry I yelled. I didn't mean t-"

"I..I don't want to lose you.."

Suncat stared in surprise and his brows raised, stunned to see Guard was..crying. Shoulders hunched and body trembling as tears rolled down his cheeks, claws unsheathed and sinking into the earth as he crouched low. Guard felt so stupid and childish, crying like a kit over something like this. This was their culture, how they lived, it was an honor to serve Her. And serve Her he had, he had done dis job and his job was nearly done. He had served his purpose, this was every guard's dream and yet..

He didn't care. He didn't care about that, hell, he didn't even care about Her. He cared about losing his friend, the only other cat he had an actual relationship in this barn for crying out loud. The only cat that talked to him and cared about him! And now he was going to lose him..

"I c-can't lose you..if you die, I-I'll have no one..!"

"...hey..hey, shh shh..shhh.."

His feelings only grew worse when he felt Suncat stepling closer while speaking to him softly, his smaller and round body huddling beside his own as he crouched beside Guard and began gently grooming between his ears. Suncat was dying, having possibly only weeks left, and yet he was the one comforting Guard. He felt so selfish..and yet..he didn't want to let go..

"...I know, I know.. It's not- ...I know you're scared, but, truthfully.., I'm scared too, and I don't want to be alone in this. I need you with me, Guard.."

Just Another Winter's Day by the Sea by Vesa Lehtimäki Via Flickr: The winter scene is from 2016 and I dug it up from my ”Projects” folder inspired by a sunny winter weather last week. I just planted that Aries 1B model on it because why not, the snowy photograph was taken for something like this anyway. It’s what the ”Projects” folder is for, a storage for inspirations. This image makes no sense thinking about the 2001: A Space Space Odyssey context of course, but to me any spaceship photographed in snow looks great. It transforms that island into a spaceport, so that's kinda cool.
