Hard Boiled movie liveblog (part 3):
I love the shootout scenes in this movie, the fight choreography is top-notch, but you can really tell this was a nineties movie. All the guns have like 60 round magazines and you never really see the characters reload. Which is a shame because I love it when action movie characters stop to reload their guns, it adds to the scene.
Also, this movie is really just “everyone loves Tony Leung”. Chow Yun Fat sees him as the reincarnation of his old, dead partner, the main villain is obsessed with him to the point where I think he’s in love with Tony, and the police commissioner just wants to see him happy.
Hard Boiled movie liveblog (part 2):
I love how the main henchman, Mad Dog (badass name by the way) is set up as this elite fighter with decent aim. But then he’s put in a position where the two main heroes are staying perfectly still, they’re out in the open, and he has enough time to aim but still misses every shot. The plot armor really came in handy.
Also, I love the scene before this. Chow Yun Fat and Tony Leung are trying to get through these blast doors but have no idea how to open them. The solution; blow up this random pipe and pray for the best.
